Some hair loss after pregnancy is normal. However, if you think it is an excessive amount, have a word with your health visitor or the Practice Nurse.

I have lots of hairs (fine ones) so it seemed like such a lot when it was falling out! I got fed up of the hair everywhere and went for a very short crop. Bit drastic, but it suits me and I love it!

Spam88 · 16/07/2019 07:20

No advice to offer, but mine stopped falling out at 7 months PP.

Butterflykiss00 · 16/07/2019 07:21

My hair loss was excessive as well, I would maybe get in touch with doctors in case of thyroid problem, after baby was 6 month it got better for me so fingers crossed for you!

NavyBerry · 16/07/2019 07:28

It happens. I was terrified but it eventually all grew back!

BobbleHat102 · 16/07/2019 07:32

Yup. Mine was awful. So bad i got hair extensions because I refuse to have short hair! Its all growing back now (9m PP) but its about an inch long.

It can seem like a lot but it is normal to lose quite a bit from about four months onwards. With DC2 mine was literally falling out in clumps (but I suspect stress, breastfeeding and a diet consisting of egg and chips didn't help)

Here's a video about it Grin www.facebook.com/tiredntested/videos/1843857015928482?s=273100467&v=e&sfns=mo

We were drowning in hair in our house once I stopped BFing DD2. I had waist length hair and it was disgusting! Didn't last for too long though and I managed it by brushing every few hours to reduce the amount that ended up in the floor!

Settlersofcatan · 16/07/2019 08:32

I had really excessive hair loss and it turned out to be an overactive thyroid - but I was also losing weight very rapidly as well

Ponoka7 · 16/07/2019 08:44

It is normal. But, are you taking suppliments, how's your diet etc?

A good cut and the right supplements will sort it out.

Gracie300 · 16/07/2019 08:47

I’ve just started taking Pregnacare again to see if that helps, but other suggestions more than welcome! My diet hasn’t been great if I’m honest so will make a change there too.

It’s completely normal and there’s not very much you can do. Mine started when DS was three months and is only just slowing down now he’s eight months old. There was a period of the house just being covered in clumps of my hair...

theruffles · 16/07/2019 09:12

Mine eased up a lot after 6 months but before that it was falling out in clumps and I'd find hair everywhere. The hair dresser said a good cut can help. She also said her eyelashes had fallen out too after having her baby Confused

I tried to wash mine less and tied it up hoping less would fall out. It does get better though PP hair regrowth is annoying - I now have odd sideburns and fluffy short hairs all over the place.

Iwanttoredecorateagain · 16/07/2019 09:17

Take multivitamins and regular gentle scalp massages to stimulates hair growth follicles.

Also, finger combing before shower helped clog the plugholes less.

Mine slowed about 9 month pp. Im 18m pp now and i have about 4 inches of hair growth under my older hair. So annoying.

Ensure your diet is good too.
