Hip pain and possible numbness

Reposted from chat as it dropped out so quickly...
I've had a deep pain in one hip for three years. X-Rays and MRI have shown nothing sinister, just wear and tear, I'm 50. Steroid injection numbed the wrong area and no lasting effect.
I'm now under sports physio and doing tedious exercises which hurt- no reason given why this is the treatment, I'm very flexible and strong.
Over the last week it's become much worse, also not relieved by movement which was historically the case. And now the 'possibly' bit, I've become quite tingly around the leg and anus and this morning suddenly almost pooped myself (as in I would have but made it to the loo in time). Never had any digestive issues before, not on pain meds (ie not reacting to ibuprofen or codeine)
It feels quite different, I have a physio appointment tomorrow- any advice- what should I say and ask for?

Please go to A&E to check you are not suffering ‘saddle anaesthesia’, OP, as this would be very serious

@Railworker, I must admit that’s what I’m worried about. But I’m also aware that I’m a huge catastrophiser and HA sufferer. The ideal outcome is that I describe the symptoms to the physio, they send me to A&E and it’s ruled out.
Really fed up with it!

Update!
I stropped into physiology, really hoping and praying that I'd be packed off to A&E. Lovely physio heard me out and pointed out that although I'm strong and flexible, there's no muscle at all in my butt, so the wrong bits are doing all the work and are aggravated. So I've been doing the strengthening exercises properly this time. Had physiological this morning and although he didn't quite praise my new muscles, it's obvious that things are getting much better, much less painful, no more numbness. He even mention caudal equine as a possible further down the line scenario, which is an incentive to keep building up the muscle. Thanks for answering!

Grr autocorrected after I'd written from physio to physiological. Hmm
