Police Report re Missing Knickers

So I recently ordered some period knickers for my daughter off the internet. I ordered 3 pairs from the US and they cost me £21. I paid using Paypal. Eventually the knickers arrived but there was only 1 loose pair of knickers in a brown Jiffy bag. I tried contacting the company and got no reply. I then went to PayPal to raise a dispute. PayPal are now telling me that I have to report this to the police and provide a police report. So AIBU to think that this is absolutely wasting police time to report 2 pairs of knickers missing in the list worth £12! PayPal won't listen....

Was the packaging open? Was there any evidence of tampering? How do you know the retailer didn’t just put one pair in the envelope? Essentially I doubt you’ve got enough evidence to meet the minimum standards for a theft report.

Who would call 101 for something like this, seriously? I can just imagine the call handlers reaction. Two pairs of knickers went missing in the post and you think the police will be interested?

The company you bought them from should refund you or send some more out. Call and email them until they respond. Oh and buy M&S knickers.

trigger The clue is in the name. Crime reference number. You only get that if a crime has been committed which isn’t the case.

I've tried reporting it on fraudaction which is an online site and has given me a reference number. These aren't just normal knickers - they are period (menstruation rather than Victorian ) knickers for my ASD daughter. As far as I'm aware you can't get them in shops yet (waits to be corrected...) And M&S are far too posh for me - I'm as Asda George girl
