To ask if anymore has experienced starting to worry about travelling longer distances after age 40?

This may sound strange but just wondering if anyone has experienced this. Very early 40’s and finding myself not wanting to travel too far to go on holiday - ie uk would be fine or somewhere in Europe a few hours flight away but for some reason I’m feeling worried at the thought of going on anything over a 5 hour flight ie further afield such as the States. Also the fact that it’s further from home. When I was younger this didn’t bother me and I would happily go a long haul if I got the chance. Anyone else experience worry,as they have got older, about the thought of going somewhere much further away, and going on a much longer flight?

I'm slightly more anxious about being a long way from home but for me it's because my parents are getting older and i'd need to be there if either of them were hospitalised.

The travelling/journey time itself doesn't worry me and i'm rarely bothered by delays. It just happens, there's nothing i can do so i just go with the flow.

Delays don’t bother me. Just the thought of getting on a long flight and being so far away.
Iceberg- yes, I’m wondering if my situation is due to perimenopause...

I am the same, but I'm older than you are.
Would consider going anywhere in my 20s and 30s but more apprehensive these days. Last holiday I had was three years ago and I felt stressed for a while even when I got there.
Leaving the 20 year olds at home worried me too although people think crazy as they are adults and could fend for themselves for a week and it was ok. (Didn't stop me worrying about them though! )

As we age we consider the downsides too much I think ; flying is a hassle these days and it is tiring even going somewhere in the car for a weekend break anywhere. Everywhere is busy and you have to just think of so much stuff ! Well I do anyway. Carefree days are gone

I don't get anxious at all but I do suffer physical effects. I have long legs and suffer from restless leg syndrome so a long haul economy seat just doesn't work for me anymore. I'm ok up to about 7 hours but then I'm done. My bum hurts, my back hurts, my legs hurt! Now if go long haul I just save up a bit extra and go business. It's not as expensive as people think it is if you know how to find good deals. A place I go regularly, economy is around 800 return and I can get business for 1600 return. Which is worth it to me! I probably would be more anxious otherwise as I would be stressing about the travel. Then worrying about the travel coming home etc. And of course you get other perks with business like no check in queue, nice airport lounge etc. Which all helps on taking a lot of the stress out of the journey.

I am PST 40 and no longer want to do long distance travel. It is not worry that is the issue and more to do with comfort, boredom and disturbed sleep.

Maybe I would feel different if I could afford first class air travel but I can’t so now 2.5 hours is long enough stuck in cattle class.
