IABU to think MNHQ linking random words to adds is really annoying

Is Mumsnet HQ doing random advertising links not just pop ups as Per usual it’s very irritating.

Someone is obviously listening, if MNHQ have removed piles from the list.

I can't see this at all and haven't seen any across the boards, though I have seen it mentioned - I use the app?

I'm sick of the word exercise being made a link.
If this is the way it's starting to go, then is every other word going to be a link / advertising opportunity?

Doesn’t bother me but I just knew that there’d be a thousand threads about it being annoying and people hating it just because it’s a change from the norm

YANBU. It's so annoying because I keep thinking the poster has linked on purpose, so I click because I think it's relevant to what they're saying and then I feel duped.

You'd think I'd have learned after the 3rd or 4th time but sometimes it really does look like the person has done it.

Yes Worra I thought the same and was finding it odd until the penny dropped that it obvs wasn't the poster creating the link.

BullBullBull I'd normally agree with you 100%. Generally whenever HQ bring in the slightest change, some posters go way OTT and even threaten to flounce.

But this really is bloody annoying.

Still if they choose to keep it, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Noticed it earlier with the word pushchair. Absolutely awful.

It's awful. The only thing we can do is ensure we don't click on them then it might go away.

Skim links I think it was called before, they changed the ad links to a different colour so it didn't look like the poster was recommending whatever random crap but it was still hated (I agreed)
