To ask how I can keep food down for longer than 20 minutes?

Posted on the Health board but no replies and I'm desperate!

Name changed because this is embarrassing. .

I've been super stressed the past couple of weeks and lost my appetite completely over the last 4/5 days.

If I even eat plain toast now, I'm running to the bathroom within 20 minutes with not-quite- diarrhea.

Even lucozade has this effect.

How can I stop this?!

I even if it is stress induced, the doctor can help. If it happens recurrently, you may need medication.

Everything you are eating seems to contain gluten. Could you be coeliac or NCGI?

When I get very stressed my stomach get tied in knots and I would be physically sick after eating, if I can eat at all. However I don't think that food/drink would be processed by the body to get diarrhoea within 20 minutes. I think you need to get checked out in case you have picked up a bug.

In would definitely see your gp.
When my anxiety is bad a struggle to eat but whenever I do I either vomit or get the runs. At the moment taking beta blockers to dull the physical efffects of anxiety are my only solution, but I’ve lost a storm and a half in the last 2 months.

Some great suggestions here thank you!

I'm going to make an appointment with my GP when they open again next week as the runs are not giving up!

I've given up on food for now - this is exhausting so I'm going to stick to water for the next 12 hours or so.

If you have a pharmacy nearby open tomorrow try and get some satches of diolarlites (spelt wrong I am sure). It is often suggested if you go aboard and get an upset stomach.

Ask the Dr to test you for Gilbert's syndrome, and look up gastroparesis. I'm on long-term antidepressants now which manage it. I found I had to eat about 10 mini meals a day - eg 10 raisins, half a piece of toast). Doing exercise would enable me to eat a bit more, but burns off more calories. Make sure to take calcium tablets to keep your bone mass up as well. Good luck!
