To ask why John Lewis no longer sell Troll bedside cot

Possibly over anxious gran to be, but my someone has given me a Troll bedside cot and my son said he and partner want one for when their baby is born. I know they will need a new mattress, but when I looked online at John Lewis I could find co sleeping cribs but no co sleeping bedside cots. So are they safe? Are they a good thing to use? The Troll one is still on their website but doesn't seem to be on sale in U K. but no information online about any safety issues.

I don't know about your cot, but I had a bednest which were recalled long after I'd stopped needing it, there can be an issue with second hand as people don't usually get the full instructions and doing something not quite right can lead to danger.
I was happy with our bednest and when it was outgrown I put our normal cot, with one side removed, up to our bed and tied it on securely etc. This being safe would depend on height of bed, bed clothes used etc. I hope you get some info to reassure you. I'm guessing there could be lots of reasons why JL no longer sells something. But do get instructions online for your cot.

Oh sorry just googled yours and see it isn't one that (officially) attaches to the bed but goes along side it.

I have a cossatto full size bedside cot that was discontinued long before I bought it. It’s been brilliant for us

Percy you have raised one of my concerns. The Troll has castors to make it easy to push away from the bed. My husband sband said you need to be able to get out of bed, so castors are good d. My thought was bed could move or get pushed away from bed and be dangerous. If you tied your cot to the bed, how did you get in and out ( sorry if that is an idiotic question)

We have the troll and love it.

You can lock the casters with brakes. I just leave the brakes on, so it can’t shift away from the bed.

It’s nowhere near the length of the bed so to get out of bed you just sit up, maybe shuffle down slightly then swing your legs over the side as normal.

You can adjust the height easily. It’s really helpful if you’re breastfeeding.
