I have just discovered that my DP of 11 years - so far always seemed like a fairly decent adult man - says ‘Chester drawers’. Specifically, I was asking him where some paperwork was and he said ‘in the top Chester drawers in the spare room’

This has never happened before.

AIBU to leave?

I keep seeing posters using none instead of non, it's a new thing,I've only noticed it happening the last few months or so.

My OH always says words wrong differently and it's drives me mad!
But recently the worst was when he said 'proNOUNciate' instead of 'pronunciate'.

Oh the irony 🤦‍♀️

sweeneytoddsrazor · 14/07/2019 00:02

It's rediculous.

jimmyhill · 14/07/2019 00:04

It's not that whacky really and it's perfectly obvious why people translate the sounds they hear into this particular phrase.

After all, if you can have an Axminster carpet, a Panama hat, a Venetian blind, and a Bakewell tart then why on earth not Chester drawers?

IvanaPee · 14/07/2019 00:08

I’ll bet you brought them in a lovely shop, too.

JugsAndSoap · 14/07/2019 00:10

It's a close call between Chester draws, a chimbley and my absolute pet hate, "his" for "he is".

Tillygetsit · 14/07/2019 00:13

My DH can't spell. He once sent me a text telling me I was his sweatest love. I nearly LTB.

BinkySodPlop · 14/07/2019 00:17

During an office move, I once had a colleague refer to her drawer unit as a "pedal stall". It was scrawled on a post-it note and took me a few seconds to work out.

There was once a guest on This Morning who kept saying "pronounciation". She was on there giving tips on how to speak correctly!

sergeilavrov · 14/07/2019 00:20

My DH says 'nitch'... it took me a while to understand he meant 'niche.' We had a conversation not long after where we agreed that I speak English to our children, and he speaks Arabic. Simply wouldn't do for them to pick up such things.

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 14/07/2019 00:21

It drives me fucking insane.

SIL says Mataland for Matalan and Car Booty for Car Boot Sale.
Grrrr.

MyDcAreMarvel · 14/07/2019 00:22

Are you defiantly sure he said Chester Draws?

crappiestparent · 14/07/2019 00:23

I may have to go for a rest bite after reading these Wink

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 14/07/2019 00:29

Seeing my own username irritates me a bit.

MaryShelley1818 · 14/07/2019 00:36

My (lovely) ex husband used to say “redchester” for “register”
Drove me mad!!
My pet hate is people who say “we was” instead of “we were”

Gillian1980 · 14/07/2019 00:43

My DH pronounces epitome wrong despite me correcting him several times. I gave up years ago and leave him to it now!

Colourfulest · 14/07/2019 00:54

@BiffNChips hahaha oh dear 🤦‍♀️

Tigger365 · 14/07/2019 01:01

My personal pet hate is, I aren’t

It makes me want to scratch my skin off.

MissMoan · 14/07/2019 01:03

Remove all his drawer space privileges until he learns how to address them properly. Wink

Cuppaand2biscuits · 14/07/2019 01:04

And Walla, here is the finished result!

DougalsBlueJumper · 14/07/2019 01:42

Friend asked me a while back if I'd been watching Killyneeve on iPlayer, saying it was brilliant and she hoped there would be another series. I remember wondering if it was some sort of Irish crime drama or something, until I realised she was saying Killing Eve. I was actually watching it too and still hadn't a clue what she was banging on about! Not her fault obviously, just my lack of understanding.

GibbonLover · 14/07/2019 01:47

His been discusting. He needs gone.

BritWifeinUSA · 14/07/2019 01:53

I once saw something on eBay I liked but the seller had written “all payments must be made in Stirling”. That’s too far for me to go just to hand over some cash so she lost my sale.

SenecaFalls · 14/07/2019 01:59

That’s too far for me to go Grin
