I run a holiday cottage in the UK, sleeps 4 and is next to our house.

Currently have two guests staying so provided the usual 4 bath sheets when they arrived yesterday.
I received this message this morning:

Hi T*,do you have some hand towels and face cloths that you could leave for us. We will leave bath towels outside for you after use for washing and return if that's ok as we use clean towels each night, thanks."

The hand towels and face cloths are not an issue I can give them some of ours and perhaps should consider providing them anyway but daily washing/drying two bath sheets is that reasonable?

For full disclosure the listing states that there is use of a washing machine next door (in our house) and I always say to guests just let me know if you would like me to put any washing on for you.
Tempted to say help yourself to it but really don't want to have to let them in here (tidy up!)
I have yet to respond...

I'll admit I had no idea people used it to mean "read the full thread"! I just know the rude version in the acronyms list. I'll remember that next time someone uses it weirdly!

Guests have still not been in to wash anything.
DH says hello to the male guest on the drive in the morning when he's doing the chickens and thinks they are taking towels out to wash at relatives they are visiting daily. The bath sheet in a bag being a giveaway.
It's clearly a genuine issue for them which is sad.
I do feel a little guilty now but in reality it just wasn't doable daily anyway.

For those asking the Cottage is linked to our house by an open porch, cottage is everything to the left and we are on the right with separate entrances. Guests use the front garden and we use the back, works well, guests comments say they feel very private. We've only been doing it for a year and are already fully booked up until October so getting something right.

This thread has at least been constructive as we now have lots of hand towels and plans in place to fit a washing machine Smile

Hope you have a plan in place to deal with any nicked towels op!

stayathomegardener · 16/07/2019 13:51

Do you know @SagAloojah not one guest has taken anything over the year, leaving things behind is very frequent though.

That’s good to hear OP!

Please don’t feel guilty OP. You have provided facilities and that’s all that’s needed.

sauvignon I've never looked at the list, don't even know where it is.

I've just been applying a bit of common (or not as it happens) to work them out.
