Withdraw from interview?

I am an internal candidate and already doing the job quite effectively. Was actively pursued to apply, even though reluctant but reservations were discussed and so persuaded to apply. Now discover that one of the two people on the interview panel is someone I have a really tricky working relationship with so feel really awkward about going into ‘interview’ mode because that person doesn’t have the highest opinion of me and secondly, discover also that six people are being interviewed. Feel the whole thing super awkward. The only plus I can see currently is the job represents a substantial pay rise and I would have no professional contact with ‘tricky colleague’. Down side, working constantly to really tight deadlines with very high expectations.

Go for it.

It doesn’t sound like the positives seriously outweigh negatives so yes you should withdraw if that’s what you feel is right.

Go for it. You can always turn it down if you are offered it and it turns out to be unsuitable.

TanMateix · 12/07/2019 21:36

Just go, if she doesn’t like you that much, she may even big you up to ensure you are not around her. 🙂

I would go for it. Even if you don't get it, it will be good interview practice for promoted posts.

I was in a similar situation last year (without the tricky colleague and wasn't doing the job already). Didn't get the job but due to other internal promotions, the position came up again this year and I got it Grin I felt a lot more confident in the interview this time around as I'd had prior experience.

Good luck!

Ignore the tricky colleague and go for it. Dont let it hold you down, the fact is if you don’t go you will definitely not get a job. Nothing to lose and all to gain.

Butchyrestingface · 12/07/2019 21:56

I would still go for it. You’re not going to be working with your nemesis.

If you’re not offered the post, you can always comfort yourself with the thought that it was all this person’s fault rather than any failing on your side. Fucking full-proof. 👍

Honestly, you will be fine, the worst thing that could happen is that you don’t get the job but you are not going to get it anyway if you don’t go.
