I am pig sick of hearing that 80% of the population voted for Brexit.

My vote in 2017 was for the candidate most likely to beat the sitting Tory MP.

So fed up hearing that 80% of us voted for a Brexit party in the 2017 GE.

The left always have to come in and spend to sort of the burning destruction that the Tories have imposed on society and public services.

ChocChocButtons · 12/07/2019 20:28

@Justaboutdone OH NO I’m gutted lol

themmatricc · 12/07/2019 20:28

You tend not to agree with every point in a manifesto. yes you do manifestos are a list of commitments that parties say they will do in government

ChocChocButtons · 12/07/2019 20:29

@Stripyhoglets oh yeah because the left letting ppl live of benefits and bankrupting the country like they did under tony Blair’s reign lol

themmatricc · 12/07/2019 20:29

The left always have to come in and spend to sort of the burning destruction that the Tories have imposed on society and public services. you must be joking

BogglesGoggles · 12/07/2019 20:31

I have literally never heard this before...

BogglesGoggles · 12/07/2019 20:31

@Stripyhoglets ...that’s not how economics works

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 12/07/2019 20:33

Statistics can be spun any which way people want

Stripyhoglets · 12/07/2019 20:37

No I'm not joking. It will cost more to sort out the mess left by Austerity than it would have done to not impose it in the first place.
I know economics isn't that simple - but there's been billions found to bribe the DUP and pay for Brexit. So forgive me if I don't think taking money off disabled and ill people was really necessary.
The recession was a global thing not Labour's fault. The recession after Brexit will be firmly the Tories fault.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 12/07/2019 20:40

Of course it was the labour party’s fault they spent and spent and spent. I have friends who work in the local councils and for nhs trusts. The Labour Party cut every trust up, added a load of middle management managers and racked up an unsustainable bill.

jasjas1973 · 12/07/2019 20:58

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

Yet Labour were running a structural deficit way below the cons have managed, in fact the deficit is out of control now.

The Global financial crash cannot be laid at their door, the tories applauded Labours bailout of the banks..... it was global, origins in USA and greed.

We all have benefited from labour policies, NHS, OU, Social welfare, Barbara Castles reforms of maternity, holiday pay, child benefit, mobility allowances..... Labour bought in the 1967 abortion act, again all opposed by the tories, Hunt wants it brought back to 12 weeks.

We'd be living in the dark ages without the centre left.

Justaboutdone · 12/07/2019 21:00

Let’s not kid on.

Labour is shot in government. Tories are shit in government.

And they all leave a mess for others to clear up and we all have to deal with the consequences.

No matter how much money Labour have wasted over the years, the Tories are probably going to bankrupt us with a No Deal Brexit.

Oh and the small matter of destroying the Union too..........

Your not the only one that got the year wrong. Boris said “...2017...” also in his TV debate with Hunt.

Justaboutdone · 12/07/2019 21:06

I didn’t get the year wrong...............

Oh and to make it clear I know the referendum was in 2016 Hmm

Whatafustercluck · 12/07/2019 21:20

I didn't vote for Brexit in the 2017 GE either. I voted for the candidate most likely to oust the Tory candidate in my constituency, which just so happens was Labour.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 12/07/2019 21:30

I’m not pro torie either, Hunt tried to close our local hospital- to be he is scum! I couldn’t vote labour either- Jewish and wouldn’t vote for anything to do with Corbyn.
As for the original post, people’s vote for their MP i don’t think is solely linked to their Brexit stance - but both sides spin the statistics to their benefit

Patroclus · 12/07/2019 23:19

The conservatives promised to match labour's spending....

Patroclus · 12/07/2019 23:20

And you seem to think Labour caused the worldwide financial crises? well you dont really do you, you're just telling lies.

mindproject · 12/07/2019 23:29

I voted for the Lib Dems, even though I've never voted for them before and I wouldn't have voted for them in any other circumstance. I knew they were going to make out everyone was voting for Brexit parties, they always put a spin on everything that suits their agenda. They want to make out that Brexit is the 'will of the people', not the elites. Meanwhile, in real life, I don't know one poor person that voted for Brexit.
