If you smelt weed coming from your neighbour's house while you were out on your drive (weeding! Grin) - no suspicion of dealing or a cannabis farm or anything, just the clear indication that the neighbours were having a spliff in their house, would you expect the police to do anything about it if you called them?

Context - dh thinks the police would come round and search their house, I think the police have better things to do.

Who would even call the police for this?? Why would anyone bother?

If it was everyday maybe some would but not really sure what the police would do. As an occasional thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ Who cares it’s just a bit of weed

Buster72 · 12/07/2019 18:56

Police will do blow all about it.

QueenofPain · 12/07/2019 18:59

GrinGrin I think your husband is a little naive.

ReturnofSaturn · 12/07/2019 19:02

Grin Grin Grin at calling the police cause someone's smoking weed!!

newmomof1 · 12/07/2019 19:03

Given they rarely turn up after a burglary (or even during) I doubt they'd bother for this.

Why do people always make stupid statements like this? From personal experience(s), I can confirm that you're incorrect @FriarTuck

TinyMystery · 12/07/2019 19:05

😂 why would you call the police for that?

BigRedLondonBus · 12/07/2019 19:06

They will come round where I live, my friends neighbour called them for this exact thing. The police turned up at her door but she denied it and they said they couldn’t prove it was her so that was that. I was really surprised that they actually turned up though!

MillicentMartha · 12/07/2019 19:13

Unless they are awful neighbours, I’d take a deep breath in, smile to myself, and go on with my day.

EllenRipley · 12/07/2019 19:13

Unless they are dealers and/or there's disruption to your life and/or you feel threatened, why would you even consider calling the police? It's the 21st century. A spliff is not a big deal and I really doubt the police would be interested, unless they're having a slow day. If they're otherwise good neighbours it seems very unfair to even put them on the police's radar.

If they've turned their chimney into a massive bong and there's a throng of ne'er-do-wells coming and going at all hours then that's a different story.

Kel801 · 12/07/2019 19:17

I agree that they shouldn’t even be bloody called because it’s not anyone’s business.. and yes the police have fat bigger battles to fight

ALongHardWinter · 12/07/2019 19:23

Well, considering that our local police did absolutely nothing when my NDN reported the mens' barbers near where we live for not just smoking the stuff, but blatantly dealing it as well,I'd be surprised!

HelenaDove · 12/07/2019 19:36

if its not anyones business when the smell is coming into your home then surely the same rule should apply to barbecues and bonfires There have been plenty of posts about these in the past.

Haha where I live people smoke openly in the street and the police don’t bat an eyelid.

They do swoop on the skateparks to try and protect the younger ones from getting into it or catch the dealers that sell to the 13 and 14 year olds.

FrancesFryer · 12/07/2019 20:43

They have better things to do round our way. Like catch people fishing illegally ShockConfused

HelenaDove · 13/07/2019 23:12

Unbearable again here today.

Cheeserton · 14/07/2019 00:31

You'd call the cops on someone for having a spliff? Dear oh dear. Perhaps mind you own business and leave people alone?

HelenaDove · 14/07/2019 00:33

My neighbour has been smoking it day and night for over a week now. He also drives

Yesicancancan · 14/07/2019 00:52

Maybe they are in a a lot of pain and neeed some respite ?? MYOB so YABU

DickZillaofTheVilla · 14/07/2019 01:01

OP and her husband sound like ‘those’ neighbours Hmm

AleFailTrail · 14/07/2019 01:13

I wish the police would do something about it. To you it’s just a spliff/a bit of weed/harmless.

Me, I get a reaction to the smoke that makes me want to wound/main/kill people. Neighbours were smoking it regularly once and...we’ll...lots of red mist and being restrained by people ensued. It’s not all love and harmlessness

Thurmanmurman · 14/07/2019 01:21

Imagine being married to a man who wants to call the police because of a whiff of weed from the neighbours garden.

Rachie1973 · 14/07/2019 01:25

Yes. They’ll come round with the blue lights, truncheons and cuffs and then send them to jail for 30 years.

Or realistically they’ll take the call, make the right sympathetic noises and chuckle later whilst dealing with actual crimes.

HelenaDove · 14/07/2019 01:33

Yes Rachie im sure that would be great for community relations.

I suspect the chuckling would stop when/if they need help with an investigation and they come up against a wall of silence from the community that they only give a fuck about when they want something.

HelenaDove · 14/07/2019 01:35

For the last week we have had this stink in our flat from the cunt downstairs I suspect some on here would hum a diff tune if he was drug driving near your kids school

THEN id be told by some of the hypocrites on here that i should have reported him.
