To wish school would be consistent in parent communications

I got the regular e-mail today - it's great that they do that. There are two of us living separate lives and sharing the care of DD, so the e-mail really helps as exDP isn't great at passing on info.

BUT

The school e-mail says "please see letters sent home about arrangements for end of term"

PLEASE just PUT IT ALL in the email.

The other day an after school activity was cancelled at short notice - the school sent an e-mail to warn everyone - except they sent it only to the first contact on the list. It wasn't the "first contact's" day to collect DD so I knew nothing about it. Also on every previous occasion a club has been cancelled, they have sent a text.

I understand it's not easy keeping track of everyone (and in an ideal world I could rely on exDP), but a little thought would go a long way.

It really isn’t easy. It’s a nightmare. I get where you’re coming from, but contacting two sets of parents each and every time you need to send out any info, in any format, is a lot of work. Admin teams are cut, overworked and are going to make mistakes.

I know! Why is communicating with parents so hard for some schools? Ours is the same. Sometimes they send a text, other days an email. Some days communication arrives via paper at the bottom of a child's bag. Sometimes they use twitter. All completely inconsistent. Does my head in.

If only someone could invent a virtual place where all communication could be uploaded to then linked to an alert system? Wait a minute...

I appreciate parents have a duty to make sure the school have the most up to date contact details.
