Warning - blood/gross. Bleeding gum, how worried should I be?

Excuse the awful pic or don't look if squeamish please!

I was settling DS for a nap and felt a taste of blood in my mouth but I couldn't see anything.
A few minutes later after DS settled I went to the bathroom and kind of sucked in and spat into the sink and there was bright red blood, I noticed it seemed to be coming from a top tooth just in front of my not yet fully descended wisdom tooth.
Within a minute or less more came and you can see the amount of blood in the picture. It seems to have stopped now but it ever so slightly aches.

I haven't eaten anything that could have gotten stuck in or caught the gum today, I ate about 3 hours ago and it was just plain yogurt so no bits in there. My teeth have never been fantastic and almost every other checkup requires a filling, polish etc .

Should I be calling my dentist about this or since it's the first time it's happened should I let it be?

That’s actually not very much blood. Have a rinse with warm salt water. See what happens. Unless you’re in pain and/or bleeding freely, I don’t think you need the dentist - especially as you know your dental health is good.

Oops! Read that wrong - your teeth are not great. Still don’t think you need to rush to the dentist.

I would get some Corsidol(SP) mouthwash. It's really rank but will sort out swollen gums that often bleed. If this doesn't help go to the dentist . Do you still qualify for free Dental treatment after having your child ( think it's a year after the birth) ?

I don't qualify for free dental treatment anymore but I'm always a bit wary with my teeth and very anxious about the dentist, even the smell makes my stomach flip.
I've has some awful dentists in the past (when my parents chose them) which resulted in undiagnosed issues, unnecessary, painful and unsuccessful treatment which then followed by loosing 2 teeth as a result before I even hit 20 so I'm always worried.

Do you floss every day? If not then start doing so and hopefully it will clear up.

Hygienist here. Yup , flossing daily will reduce gingivitis but in the case you may have had an abscess pop.
