Why can't the men I've met discuss a difference of opinion rather than act like emotional defunct idiots!

My exH was aggressive if I tried to discuss anything with him-verbally and physically. I divorced him so he's not my major concern.

My current P just blanks all responsibility and is devoid of discussing anything. He just says he doesn't need to reassure me or make any comment because he doesn't think he's wrong. Even if I try to discuss anything he drags up anything he can about me-he's very jealous of an ex boyfriend because we parted on good terms -so much so that I've ended up cutting all contact because it's not worth the grief!

We can have a lovely time for days then he'll start telling me he doesn't believe something I've said or suddenly sulk for no reason.

I'm honestly too tired and too old for this shit.

Why can't men just communicate!!?

It’s not all men, it maybe your ex and current partner, it maybe you need to work on your communication skills

Your Ex was abusive. Your current DP is abusive. You're changing your behaviour patterns to try and stop him from being jealous. That's entirely ridiculous and he's an arsehole. This isn't a communication problem, it's an arsehole problem.

Also, men can communicate when they choose to. Lets face it, less than 5% of fortune 500 CEO's are women, so I'm pretty sure communicating isn't something men are incapable of. It's a choice.

@Northernparent68 -yeah, I've definitely thought about it being me. Unfortunately I'm pretty clear...that maybe an issue in itself though.

@FudgeBrownie2019 my answer to Northern was about to extend into "I find myself really thinking out any issue I need to bring up so I can choose my words carefully"... in which case I fear you make a valid point!

I agree it's a choice...it's the complete lack of being bothered that I'm upset that I find the most alarming. It's a real shock because it hasn't always been like this...but then again my exH didn't punch me until we were married...if they did it early on we'd run for the hills!!
