I waited till 6 months with DD1, but DD2 is showing lots of interest in food at 4.5 months - interested to see when others started?

About 5 and a half months

I waited til around 6 months

They show interest in everything, and chew anything, I dont necessarily think it shows their digestive system is mature enough to deal with real food

I'm normally 100pc follow experts advice however there are a few conflicting studies in this area. But gut health is a relatively new and increasingly important area of study, I wouldn't want to do anything that could have potential longterm ill effects

4 months, but she took the decision out of my hands by nicking my banana & mushing it into her mouth before I'd even realised what had happened. I panicked later as she had a bad stomach, but was reassured it was because she'd eaten too much, not because she'd had food too early

I'm doing it now with my 6.5 month old, started around a month ago but hes not eating loads, yoghurt/fruit puree at breakfast, some finger food at lunch and we try to give him a bit of what we are having for tea but he's not eating much. I think he will be like PP babies and start really going for it around 7-8 months.

About 2 weeks before 6 months.
In hindsight, I’d have waited longer.

17 weeks because of reflux (paediatrician said to start)

6 months. There is no rush.
