To think this was strange, and irresponsible?

At the park with my DDs (4 and .2). We were the only ones there, then a car pulled up and a very young boy jumped out and came into the park. He must have been around 3.

His mum stayed in the car, and for the 45 minutes we were there didn't come out the car or come see how he was, play with him or even so much as look up from her phone.

I pushed him on the round about, he played hide and seek with us and I kept looking over to the car but the head was always down.

He eventually went back to the car and they drove off.

That's strange right? Would you leave your young child to play alone in the park without direct supervision? I've seen them around town but don't know them to hello to, it was all very peculiar.

The park was within a field with a busy road beside it, if he'd decided to bolt there's no way she could catch him before he got to the road.

That is very strange behaviour. Three is still so little!

Divgirl2 · 07/07/2019 21:12

That's odd behaviour for a parent, possibly not so odd for an unwilling low-paid helper.

Poor little lad.

Very strange.
How kind of you to nanny for the child whilst whomever was their real care giver sat in car on their phone.
