DH has just had a bowl of apple and raspberry crumble ... with chocolate ice cream.

Vanilla ice cream, double cream and custard were also available, but he went back for the chocolate. Not just chocolate but chocolate chip with chocolate sauce, which somehow makes it so much worse. AIBU?

No other option but to LTB I'm afraid. There's no coming back from this.

Fresh apples with decent (bar of) chocolate is quite nice, IMHO.
I've previously had a sweet that was basically dried raspberries covered in dark chocolate. Absolutely delicious, if you have less of a sweet tooth - they are somewhat tart!
Apple crumble (with or without raspberries), served with chocolate ice cream, is an abomination. He is some kind of dessert deviant. Any of the options you had offered would have been welcomed in our house.

YANBU for putting raspberries in it, either. Although I think they'd have gone better in a pear crumble. Tut tut. You could have made them into compote & had it with ice cream on Monday, & felt very decadent to have pudding two nights running.

... but for pp, NOT lemon meringue pie, which should be enjoyed on its own, or at most with a lemony cream

I was with you, op, right up until you mentioned the raspberries. If it was you who put raspberries in an apple crumble then you're as bad as each other and are infact both wrong uns!

Apple crumble and Haäagen-Dazs Vanilla ice cream is acceptable.
