Not an AIBU but posting for traffic. I am going for a week's holiday near Dubrovonik - taking £600, which amounts to nearly £6,000 Kuna. Anyone been? Is this enough money? It's for two of us and we are self catering. What are the prices like for food in the supermarket, drink etc?

I wouldn't take that much cash. Can't you withdraw it once you're there or pay by card?

I was there at Easter. Prices are similar to the UK. There is a small supermarket in the old town and a lot of small corner shop type places around and about.
Everywhere takes cards so it might be easier to take a free to use abroad credit card.
I took £100 in cash and spent all of that but paid for meals etc with cards.
It’s worth looking into getting the Dubrovnik Card. It gets you into the walls and a number of other museums as well as bus travel.

The place is also falling over itself for coffee shops and restaurants. You are looking at £6 to £10 for a main course.

Are you staying in the old town or further out?

If in Dubrovnik I think you'll struggle we found it very pricey. We stayed in Cavtat which was much more reasonable

Already got the Kuna - staying about 15 minutes from Dubrovonik so apart from a couple of days there will be in a much smaller resort. Just been to Crete and although we were all inclusive the price in the shops was extortionate - 16 euros for a bottle of rotten cava!

I was there a few years ago and found eating out quite expensive tbf.

PancakeAndKeith · 07/07/2019 12:52

Where about are you staying?
We were about 15 minutes outside the old town and found coffee shop and restaurant prices much cheaper than in the old town.

Looks like Stikovica I think - 6km from the old town of Dubrovonik.

We went three years ago for 10 days and allowed £100 a day for me, DH and DD (teen). Breakfast we just had toast, fruit and yoghurt. Eating out was fairly dear I felt, so we just got cheese/ham and cobs etc. We rarely spent less than £60 on the three of us for an evening meal (including house wine/soft drinks). We came home having spent most of it.

Just check the menu, many of the restaurants within the walls have inside and outside menus with the outside being more expensive, take a boat to Cavtat it’s a lovely trip and if there are any super yachts in town they are a sight to see.
