Posting for traffic.

I'm looking for a factor 50, UVA 5 stars, paraben free one.

Have been using Soltan Baby but just realised it has parabens in it. I'm annoyed because as a baby product you'd think they would make it without.

I've always used p20 Slightly more expensive but lasts 10 hour, and is the most water resistant.

dementedpixie · 06/07/2019 21:52

Tesco baby is apparently paraben free

Sicario · 06/07/2019 21:52

Depends on budget - I used Clinique City Block or La Roche Posay Anthropos. (Very sensitive baby.)

Pommes · 06/07/2019 21:53

I use P20 on myself but it got in my eyes once and boy did it hurt. I use Nivea on the children - smells nice, moisturising, water resistant and has worked for us for years.

Child's farm factor 50

Minimamame · 06/07/2019 21:54

P20 here too! It’s brilliant although I don’t think it’s free from parabens. Sorry!

TeaMe · 06/07/2019 21:58

Thanks for your replies. I'll look into them.

Nivea isn't 5 star UVA

Patienceisvirtuous · 06/07/2019 21:59

Badger from Amazon. All natural Factor 30

SlipperyLizard · 06/07/2019 22:04

Depends on age - surely a baby (under 1?) shouldn’t be in the sun long enough to need suncream?

Amanduh · 06/07/2019 22:05

Ultrasun. Expensive but worth it.

Child's farm factor 50

I never used sun cream when they were babies as I kept them out of the sun and always had hats/ parasoles on the pram

modgepodge · 06/07/2019 22:20

My baby is 3 months and I’ve been to a couple of things this week outside and it’s been quite sunny. I was told by someone (HV?) no sunscreen til 6 months, keep out of sun. However I’ve found it really hard. She hated wearing her hat and it kept coming off. She wanted to be held not put down in her pram with the sun shade up. I couldn’t manoeuvre her to be in the shade if I held her as the only shade was either in her pram or the shadow created by it, which wasn’t big. I couldn’t help thinking if have worried less if she just had some cream on!! But I can’t bear wearing the stuff particularly on my face, always gets in my eyes which I’d hate for her. Not sure what the answer is? Other than avoid such events, which with hindsight, perhaps I should have.

valentinoandme · 06/07/2019 22:24

Green People as it was the only one my DS didn't react to. It doesn't make white t-shirts go yellow either so added bonus!

Daffodildainty · 07/07/2019 11:28

My daughter was born in the US - rule there was no sun cream until 6 months .

happymummy12345 · 07/07/2019 11:35

The only suncream I will use is Garnier ambre soliare, factor 50+ for me and factor 50+ kids for ds.

Lazypuppy · 07/07/2019 11:41

I've always used the aldi one since dd was 4 months old.

glasshalfsomething · 07/07/2019 11:44

Another vote for Child’s Farm. Not sticky and doesn’t turn white clothes yellow.

applepineapple · 07/07/2019 12:30

There's nothing wrong with parabens. They're the safest preservative and will be in the sunscreen at a very small percentage

Noloudnoises · 07/07/2019 12:43

I've just agnonised over this and emailed several companies for clarification on their ingredient list. I wanted 'reef safe' sun cream.

Ultrasun extreme 50. They said it was safe on a baby when I emailed them.

We've just returned from holiday and the whole family has not burned using it. (I used the factor 20 one) Especially the alabaster husband!

Noloudnoises · 07/07/2019 12:44

My baby is almost a year, though, so hard to keep him out of the sun completely.

bumbleymummy · 07/07/2019 12:48

Badger suncream here too. Although yes, keep them out of the sun/covered until 6 months.
