To not feel like an adult

I'm 35 and I genuinely do not feel like an adult. I've never felt like an adult. I keep waiting - thinking I'll do X, Y or Z when I feel more grown up, when I might be taken seriously.

I almost feel apologetic going about my daily stuff, I want to explain that although I'm 35 I'm just sort of pretending to be a grown up.

I meet people and I think they came out of the womb as fully formed adults. They do all their adulting with confidence.

Just me?

Being a grown up seems overrated anyway

Don't stress it, there's usually someone more adult-ier to get advice from. Failing that - MN!

I’m 38 with a 19 and 14 year old- I still think in my head that I’m 16, and waiting to wake up like an adult. Doesn’t help that I still get asked for id for a bottle of wine when my kids are with me. Someone thought I was in my early 20’s last week. I remember my first senior management role, and I was managing 9 people who were old enough to be my parents, and I used to think I wouldn’t be taken seriously in meetings with the managing director and all the managers in the division. I was. So I obviously fooled them! 😂

Op I'm the same age as you and I'm not a grown up either.
Sometimes I need an adult and I realise shit I AM the adult.
I'm just pretending I know how to adult though Wink

I definitely have imposter syndrome and feel like a teenager stuck in an adults body
