Anyone know Clevedon?

Shamelessly posting for traffic...

We're meeting family in Clevedon for lunch today. Both us and the other family will be part way through a long drive so we won't be stopping long but seemed silly not to meet when we're literally passing each other!

Looking to go to a nice spot for lunch, probably something to take away and sit in sun. Need easy parking close by. 4 adults and 6 children so nowhere expensive! Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes. Stop at portishead instead.

Oh really? We just plumped for Clevedon by looking at the map. Where in Portishead you recommend? Literally never been to these places before. Thanks

Parking all along the seafront, and lovely cafes opposite.

SmellMySmellbow · 06/07/2019 07:29

I quite like the little cafe/restaurant on the pier for fish and chips. They have outside tables, but it is small. Just street parking round there but keep the beach to your left and drive on up the hill and you'll find something. Then on to the little beach for sea glass (treasure) hunting or the crabbing is good there.

Just head for the pier there’s a nice sea front walk and a few cafes over looking sea (well Bristol Channel)

Clevedon is lovely. Had fish and chips on the beach last time I was there. Also had a coffee and cake on the pier.

If you're on the M5 make sure to get past the bit between Portishead and Clevedpn junctions before you stop! Portishead is probably the better place as Vanessa says. Easier all round.

Scottishgirl85 · 06/07/2019 07:31

Thanks everyone. Seems you have to pay to get on pier? Are there fish and chips shops near pier but not on it?

Go to the Pier, it is a really nice stroll and they have a cafe on there. The Pier is not the type with amusements and a fun fair, it is much quieter but has lovely views. There is a car park near to the sea front. There are also fish and chips stalls along the promenade if you prefer traditional seaside fare.

The Salthouse is lovely not sure if they do take away but they have a lovely outside
area and it’s right on the Sea Front The burgers are to die for .

There is another pub halfway along the
walkfront little harp inn it has a lovely outside seating area as well

Portishead which is just a bit further along the coast line you have the Windmill pub which also has a lovely outside area and big car park
There is bar which is casual restaurant with fantastic views over the estuary and a large outside area at the back and a smaller one at the front .The food is all the same regardless of where you sit

drizzleinbrizzle · 06/07/2019 07:33

Portishead the better place? Confused Really?

Eyre89 · 06/07/2019 11:15

The Salthouse has parking and park for kids to stretch their legs. And plenty of seating and food is good. Don't go to Little harp.

There is a fish and chip place along the seafront but I don't rate it. Its quite expensive and just frozen chips.

Park near the pier and the beach is a lovely cafe. You will struggle for take away though. I'm not sure who does takeaway. But there are places to sit in.

You do pay to go on the pier. It's just for the views and the tiffin on pier is pricy.

I live in Clevedon it's lovely I'd go to the Salthouse in your case. Right next to the marine lake.Park for children in the pub grounds or a bigger on next to it and you could walk along the seafront. Portishead is bigger so would naturally have more choice.

Clevedon is more cafe and restaurants to sit in. Problem is you just want to stop eat quickly and get a takeaway to sit out which limits options. Otherwise there would be some nice places to go on hill road and spend more time. Murray deli, scoozi, the Limehouse, junior poons etc.
