(I name change a lot)

I think I’ve got the opposite of troll-day/ the ability to spot a dodgy thread.

I always seem to post seriously and thoughtfully is threads that get deleted!

Ainu to hope it’s not just me... ?

Come on, join me in my gullible corner

Me too, I nc quite a bit and also post seriously and don't see the trolls.
Sometimes what seems so unusual to others seems quite understandable and believable to me.
I get the obvious ones, started for a laugh, but the serious ones I can't spot if under my nose.
I'd make an awful copper.

SylviaAndSidney · 05/07/2019 18:52

If it seems far fetched, and a little unlikely, it probably is.

If it appears incendiary, it's usually done on purpose.

If it's about piss, 99% of the time it's bollocks.

Take the majority of threads on here with a massive pinch of salt.

minou123 · 05/07/2019 18:54

Yes, me too. There was quite a serious one on the relationship board and I posted something quite thoughtful and hoped it would help the OP. Next minute it was deleted with a message saying possible troll.
I was actually quite upset, because I took it really seriously.

BykerBykerOoh · 05/07/2019 18:55

Watch out for twins. There are more fake twins on mumsnet than the number of actual twins on a continent of your choosing.

Laiste · 05/07/2019 18:57

Yeah, if it's fascinating and seems to get updated at perfect moments, and has just enough nitty gritty detail to grab your attention, or makes you go 'Wow how funny!!!''

then it's probably a wind up.

I can spot them now - but it's taken me approximately 11 years to learn Grin

Laiste · 05/07/2019 19:00

However - and i genuinely believe this - if you've posted heartfelt advice on any thread then someone will have read it and taken it in. Weather the OP is 'real' or not doesn't change this fact.

Even if 99% of all mumsnet OPs were made up all the wonderful support and advice is still always meaningful to all the readers of the threads.

PortiaCastis · 05/07/2019 19:00

Piss poo or children's underwear it's usually a low perve, being blue lighted to hospital hmm not that ill if they can post on here
Just be sceptical and realise there's a lot of weirdos online so be very careful what you share and if you're not sure don't post anything but report to MNHQ

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 05/07/2019 19:01

I think it’s much kinder not to assume people are lying.

IceCreamSoda99 · 05/07/2019 19:09

The twins one is interesting, does that go for baby names? So many triplets and twins requests that doesn't seem to fit with multiple birth rates, but then a very odd thing to make up!

daphine2004 · 05/07/2019 19:09

The annoying thing is not knowing how something ended when it’s a troll. Always unfinished, but I am nosey!

herculepoirot2 · 05/07/2019 19:10

What the hell is up with that twins person? I shudder to think what they are getting out of it.

Laiste · 05/07/2019 19:12

See - for some reason i just don't get too het up about troll threads.

I DO however get a right bee in my bonnet about resurrected age old bloody Zombie threads!

SemperIdem · 05/07/2019 19:13

Agree re multiple births, especially on the Baby Names board.

cyclingwith3 · 05/07/2019 19:15

I don’t get upset over it, I’m just a tad bemused. But then my threads attract troll hunters at times- so logically I am possibly living and relating to weird lives???
