Brazilian booked but feel like period on the way!

I want to do the voting for this but don’t know how.

I’ve got a brazilian wax booked for 4pm today. I’ve paid a deposit online with credit card and it’s too late to cancel without paying full price.

My cycle varies but usually longer cycles and I’m not expected my period for 5 days. But sometimes it comes early, sometimes I expect it and it arrived days and days later.

I have been having some cramping all day and feels like period on the way.

Would you go to appointment? I’m worried it’ll start when I’m in there! Could always just get bikini line tidy up or even ask for eyebrows instead maybe??

Take pain killers such as ibuprofen or naproxen half an hour or so before you go in, and wear a tampon. Just get it out of the way.

mustdrivesoon · 05/07/2019 13:11

You can still be waxed when on your period. Just a good freshen up beforehand a tampon obviously.

But if you haven't actually started bleeding Hmmhmmmm Do you have some lite tampons and just put one in just incase?

singme · 05/07/2019 13:16

I was wondering about putting one in just in case but then I’ll be worried about the string! And it might not even start! Maybe I will though as if it did start that would be not ideal.

You aren't supposed to put tampons in if you're not bleeding. It increases the risk of TSS

tealandteal · 05/07/2019 13:30

The risk of TSS for a tampon in for an hour is surely minimal? I would wear a tampon, tuck the string away (tmi?) just to feel at ease. Or explain that you are not due for 5 days but are worried you will start and ask her to wax evenly rather than one side first. That way if she has to suddenly stop it won't look uneven! Like when you have your first Hollywood and they do bikini line and work in, in case you want to stop.

BeautifulBlaze · 05/07/2019 13:31

They're used to it, pop a tampon in moments before. It'll take 10-15 mins and then whip it out! Call your waxer too, see what she suggests Smile

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 05/07/2019 13:34

If the bleeding hasn’t started I’d go to the appointment ( I get cramps 24-48 hours before my bleeding actually starts)

If the bleeding starts no I wouldn’t go, I wouldn't you want to wax someone bleeding from a period

QuestionableMouse · 05/07/2019 13:36

The thought of having a dry tampon in and trying to remove it is making me wince.

Surely you can just go to the loo before you go in and check you've not come on? If you have explain and see if you can switch to another treatment. If not then crack on.

sar302 · 05/07/2019 13:37

Tampon in - only if you are bleeding - and trim the string. You will still be Abel to reach it, but it won't get in the way.

I've said "sorry, I'm spotting a bit" to my waxed before, and she couldn't have cared less.

EarringsandLipstick · 05/07/2019 13:44

I would just go to the bathroom immediately before the appointment; if no bleeding at that point, you'll be grand for the next 15 mins or so it takes to do the waxing. It may be a bit more painful if you are premenstrual, so you could take some paracetamol.

Wouldn't use tampon if not having your period and it will make you awkward for the waxing / different positions.

Also tell your therapist - you'll feel more at ease too. Good luck!

notacooldad · 05/07/2019 13:47

If you are likely to be due on I would recommend taking a painkiller as your threshold for pain often decreases. Waxing and threading can often hurt more than they would at different times of the month!

singme · 05/07/2019 14:39

Ok, painkillers and quick check before it is! Often it takes a while for me too after the cramps so hopefully ok!

Definitely take ibuprofen as it reduces the bleeding as well. I wouldn't worry too much, the beautician will have seen it all before
