To sing the praises of EMDR therapy?!

Just been reading the broken thread and i was broken as a young adult due to a horrific relationship and abusive childhood.
I read about emdr therapy on here and although sceptical gave it a go.
I can safely say that it has changed my life! I feel lighter, no longer replay the same events, no longer feel anger and have moved foward and found love. It gave me my life back.
Moreover it works in a very unusual way...by stimulating the brain to mimic the rapid eye movements in sleep to unlock trauma. Sounds weird but it worked.
I highly recommend it!

Gosh - so interesting - I have my first session on Monday!

Hoping it can help where decades of counselling and meds haven't at all.

Shall I report back??

Shall I report back??

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Please.

Didn't work for me, but that's because my main issues were not the event that triggered PTSD. I was too shut down to any kind of theory at that point.

But it does work. The practitioner I saw was the person who treated Terry Waite and it was helpful for him.

I found it weird and scary but at that point in my life I found pretty much everything weird and scary.

Here's an interesting read:

It didnt cure me but has changed my life and how I think about things. No longer crippling flashbacks.

It didn't cure me but I ran out of money before I finished. However I don't get intrusive thoughts any more which is such a relief in itself.
