This makes no sense? Hairdresser rip off?

Not having the best week health wise so thought a nice treat to the hairdressers.
I normally get my roots done plus full head highlights and toner (including blow dry ) £80
I couldn't afford that this month so just got the roots plus toner and the blow dry.
Got to the till £75
So only £5 cheaper.
I don't understand
Is this a bit of a rip off?

It is a bit. Maybe there’s a discount if you get several things done as a package? You should have checked the price before going ahead though!

fiorentina · 04/07/2019 16:50

I think your normal deal is v good, so maybe that’s why this seems expensive?

NoBaggyPants · 04/07/2019 17:03

Do you have a block colour on your roots or a t-section highlights? You'd need to check the price list, but at the salon I go to there's not a great difference between them.

If in doubt ask beforehand. I learned that when I went to a salon where everything was an extra, the initial (already expensive) price nearly doubled!

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 04/07/2019 17:07

Alot of the time the more you get the cheaper each service is.

Or it's based on time.

I don't really what you mean by roots and full head highlights? Or a root and toner

Did they have to seperate the highlights to do the roots of the rest of the hair and then put toner in the highlights?

trytrytry · 04/07/2019 17:35

It's more like balayage really than highlights.
My top section is dark brown
I just get my roots done to cover the greys
They put the toner on the bottom section that's blonde

I went to have my hair curled to go out, it’s thick and due to shoulder problems I couldn’t reach that day. Asked how much? £13. Ace. Sit down, and she asks loose or tight curls? I said I don’t want it really tight however as my hair is thick and heavy I don’t want anything to drop by that evening. She said it’s best to be done with the GHD’s then. Went to pay- that’s £28 please. I was that shocked i paid without arguing!! Normally I’m the first to kick up a fuss if something’s wrong, but I was 😮

MrsElizabethShelby · 04/07/2019 17:45

Op if you usually have a balayage then what you had today isn't that much different, the small price difference will be that they are using slightly less product than usual.

Heratnumber7 · 04/07/2019 18:12

It's because the cost is based on time taken. The cost of the products used is minimal.

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 04/07/2019 18:37

So the ends were still had toner on the roots coloured?

Its not really that much different then.

MrsElizabethShelby · 04/07/2019 19:50

The only thing the OP didn't have this time was a bit of bleach to bring the roots closer to the scalp.

At my hairdressers a balayage is £90 and that's for anything I want both colour and cut wise.
I am there for 3 hours and costed into that service is tea/coffee, consultation, products, water, electricity/gas, chair rent and the value of the stylists time and skill.

Personally I think I get a bargain!
