Flexible working

My DP has put in a statutory request for flexi hours as I've recently got a job working with an agency. They've asked him too provide proof of my working hours which isn't really possible due too not having a set pattern to my work.
Is this something he has too provide or aibu in thinking there using this as a reason too turn down his request?

If his flexi working request is to work around you, how can he plan what to work if you dont know what you are working?

Could the lack of clarity be an issue?

Hes asked too only work a half day one day a week so I can then tell agency that my availability is that day + weekends when he is off. Hes not asking for any days off or anything like that at all, I should have added that too my OP really!

Remember the right to ask for flexi etc is the legal position, it isn't the right to have the request granted. Is there any reason why flexi working would affect the business?

TheHoundOfWinchester · 03/07/2019 20:23

None at all, hes in an office with 2 others and a lot of the time they're all able too catch up on a season they're watching on Netflix or similar!
I understand it's the right too ask rather then his right too receive was just wanting too know if they could actually request my working hours.

They can request them, it’s not massively professional but can’t see what would stop them. Could you just explain as you have here that if the request is approved you’ll be requesting hours around his?

ProteinshakesandAntonsAss · 03/07/2019 20:27

I would put back to them that you cant commit to any hours until you have confirmation from them.

To be fair, you can put flexible request in for any reason. So not sure why they would need this.

If he wanted half day to do a hobby he would have the same rights as if he wants it for childcare. The reason doesnt carry any weight. So I think they are being a bit off.

I think that's how we're going to have to do it!
