Getting a bit terrified! Looking through reports and they are all quite shocking! Not meeting fire regulations, staff not trained, kids no access to drinks?!

How can you trust people to look after your kids if they can't meet basics?

A CM not an option as it's supposed to be school prep :-(

What about a couple of half days at a proper day nursery.

How old are the reports? Very often, establishments with very poor reports turned into one of the best as they have to put special measures and are closely monitored for specific improvement. DS went to a school that had just been put on special measures. It turned to be the best 3 years he had throughout his education in every way.

  1. Ofsted is just one element. You cannot and should not make a decision for your child's school or care without visiting yourself and getting a personal sense of the situation.
  1. why does your DC HAVE to go to preschool? I'm not understanding that. If you want DC to get used to school, sure, I see that, but it's a bit pointless if you're not happy with where they're going. More important is for the DC to be used to being away from you for certain amounts of time in which case any kind of CM/Babysitter/ private nursery or other childcare that works for you will be fine.
  1. Private nurseries, Childminders, even nannies can help children get used to school. They can practice wearing school uniform, model the school day etc. It doesn't have to be pre school.

Not much better once you actually start looking around :-(
