To cancel TV license

DH and I do not watch the BBC - we watch Netflix, 4OD etc but we have always and still do pay our TV license.
DH in particular wants to cancel this as he is politically opposed to all that the BBC now stand for.
I also feel the BBC is not the unbiased media outlet it once was but am worried about getting into legal bother if child accidentally accessed it or something!

Genuinely interested in whether others have also done this?

And before anyone assumes our “political grounds” are not weird Tommy Robinson/far right stuff 😊

Don't have one, never have. Only ever watch Netflix etc...

We did watch GoT when that was on, logged onto my parents Sky Go account to watch it on catch up and then deleted the app when the season finished. That's probably not allowed but 🤷

American tv is far superior to British. Especially the sitcoms. If I had to choose, I’d choose Netflix over the BBC. I pay a licence but only for football reasons.

We have smart TVs and watch Netflix, YouTube, freeview channels etc so have access to bbc/iPlayer. How are we supposed to prove that we don’t watch bbc?

I cancelled mine a year ago when we moved house. We're in a new build and haven't heard from them since, but DH is convinced that's because we haven't bought a TV from Curry's (as they ask for your address). We don't watch live TV.

I got rid of mine a few years ago, can have prime and Netflix for pretty much the same price, don’t miss bbc at all, I thought I’d miss eastenders, but no.
Just to clarify the tv licensing people can not enter your property without your permission, only the police with a warrant and bailiffs with a high court writ can do that

I haven't had a license in I think 8 yearsish now. I use Netflix, amazon and a couple of other subscription services, and occasionally watch some catchup stuff on itvplayer or 5 or 4od.
