How can i unblock my ears?

Since i washed my hair in the bath my ears have been blicked. One worse than the other and i can hardly hear anything. Oh and then there is the bloody xylophone playing constantly.

Wax? Will i need to start shoving olive oil in my ear or is there something else i can try? It is driving me to distraction

I had this problem recently... I went to see the practice nurse after a week and her response was 'I can't see your eardrums, there's so much wax'!! Two weeks of daily warm olive oil drops was prescribed, and to be fair it worked!! (Although I'm left with the xylophone thing...Confused) I hope it improves soon!!

I use ear drops from boots which have hydrogen peroxide in, you can feel it fizzing in your ears which is a bit odd, but it seems to work much quicker than olive oil alone.

Ear drops from Sainsbury's, otrex or something like that

Go and get your ears microsuctioned, they are probably full of wax

InFiveMins · 03/07/2019 06:44

I had to have microsuction as drops weren't enough and I had started to get pain in my ear. I also didn't want to wait weeks! Cost me £50 but was worth it!

You can get ear cameras to see what’s going on.

I got a camera, ear drops and a home ear syringe kit. Sorted mine quickly a few months ago.

My DS has excessive ear wax and we use Audiclean. It’s really got it under control and is gentler than using Otex or earbuds.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 03/07/2019 06:53

I bought this whilst waiting my appointment to have my ear syringed as it was driving me mad not being able to hear in one ear. It was great! I kept the appointment as wasn’t sure if the wax had all gone, even though it had definitely removed some large amounts. The nurse said all the wax had gone and was really impressed with the product.

Definitely worth a try as it’s not expensive

Your ears have been blicked? Are you South African? Wink

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 03/07/2019 21:21

have you tried to wick out the water...i bet it is wax build up and the water has got behind it

I would twist up a bit of kitchen roll to a wispy point and wiggle that in and the water should soak into that and just leaves you to deal with the wax

Also would recommend the otex drops, my only issue with those is you can only do one ear at a time! Well I do, cos i feel that it needs to soak and fizz and the ear that is down wouldn't get the benefit!
