Does Exercise affect Periods???

Hi everyone.

I'm two weeks late for my period and I don't know why. I've done several pregnancy tests which have come back negative and I have no pregnancy symptoms at all.

The only reason I can think of is that I joined the gym 3 weeks ago and have been going at least 3 times a week. I have also been trying to reduce my calorie intake as I need to shift a couple of stones.

I have all my usual pmt symptoms, but no period. Could the change in my lifestyle be affecting this? If so, what can I do to induce my period?

Thanks.

It shouldn’t stop it, but diet and exercise massively effects the flow and general discomfort for me.. as in the better I eat/exercise the lighter, shorter and less bothersome it is x

Yes, it can do especially if you aren’t used to such strenuous exercise. Mine stopped for two months when I started running.

Yes I wasn't doing any form of exercise before so I've gone from nothing to pretty intensive workouts. I do at least two spinning sessions a week and two aerobics classes. I feel so much better in myself but the lack of period is really getting to me, especially my bloated belly!

Did your periods come ? Since I joined the gym three months ago, my periods have been one week late each month. Hoping it’s the gym and nothing else in 32

If you're overexercising it can make your period late, yes. That's happened to me. A good meal and easing off a but at the gym usually helps.

If you're only just back in the gym and your body's not used to it, your body will read it as a shock and being in a scarce environment, so yes that could well be why. You'll regulate as your body gets accustomed to a higher level of exercise.

Im not over exercising but I’d never done exercise se before, I go three times a week, but started 3 months ago, surely my body should be used to it by now if that’s what’s causing the late periods . Currently day 35 and waiting.

Can lots of exercise make your period early? I’ve recently (last 6 months) really upped my game exercise wise and this month it’s came early???
