I only ask because my DD has told my dgs that she’s taking it off him at 10pm on a school night because he can’t be trusted to switch it off. Consequently he’s tired every morning. It’s now all kicking off with him saying he will switch it off....She’s sick of the dramas in the morning, with him being tired. Anyone else get this with bloody iPhones. He’s 15 btw.

Yabu, this is a parental issue

How do you mean Haud, am I unreasonable for asking?

I take the phone off my 13 year old. He would stay up on it if I didn't. Just remove it.

My DC have to leave their phones downstairs overnight. In fact me and DH do too.

Hmm I don’t think it has. I mentioned iPhone because, erm that’s what I was talking about

So you asking a brand specific question?

I don't have an iphone so don't know what features they have that other phones don't but maybe you could get a different make of phone

Wolfiefan · 02/07/2019 21:33

It’s not the phone. It’s the house rules. Phones off at night and out of the bedroom here. No problems. (And yes adults and teen alike.)

coconuttelegraph I didn’t think to use the word “smart phone”, if I’d thought that it would bother anyone (it hasn’t except you) I would have worded it different. To tell the truth I don’t really know the difference from one phone to another, I’m old you see, my generation didn’t grow up with this technology. I said “iPhone” the same way I’d say “hoover” instead of vacumn cleaner. Does it really matter. I’m just someone trying to support my daughter and I told her I’d ask mumsnetters if they take their.....erm smart phones off their kids at night. Why do I want a different brand of phone? I have a cheap tesco one that cost me £20, does me fine thanks.
