Anyone else in same boat?

Post school drop off sometimes I just love to come back, turn on gutter TV and eat my body weight in hummus and Doritos, followed by large pot of Greek yogurt and nuts and honey.

Utterly stuffed

It just so delicious and indulgent

Anyone else??

Im not a SAHM , but today work has taken a vavkdracj, I’ve ignored the house mess & had a nap on the sofa in silence! About to put a wash on, then watch a film. This afternoon I’ll do everything o should’ve been doing this morning!! Bliss.

northerngirl2012 · 01/07/2019 11:08

Backseat!

amicableAs · 01/07/2019 11:10

I just love the peace and quiet but the best time is when dc at school and baby has his nap ....... coffee and a snack then trying to organise the house

billy1966 · 01/07/2019 11:11

God yes.

During the winter, returning home after everyone has been dropped, bucket of coffee, roaring stove, endless rounds of buttered toast.

All while watching some series I'm loving.

Absolute heaven.

Marvinmarvinson · 01/07/2019 11:12

Yep I'm with you op! Not a sahm unfortunately but I do shift work and generally have 2 days off in the week when everyone is at school. I always get a fair amount done but first on the agenda was catching up on the handmaid's tale with a Mars bar ice cream 😋

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 01/07/2019 11:12

I don’t know what the deleted post said but I assume it was something negative towards sahm. I think for full time working mums who are doing all the household stuff as well as working 60 odd hours a week this type of post can feel a little goady, particularly when there will be a backlash towards anyone who points it out, about how hard SAHMs work. This type of post doesn’t support that case much.
Personally I would love nothing better that to do the school run then eat junk food and rest, sadly I am at work (sneaking onto mumsnet whilst on the loo!) so can’t join in, but enjoy OP!

YumyumAndyum · 01/07/2019 11:28

Oh I read it
It was completely harmless
Mumsnet HQ thinking we are all as fragile as butterflies again

Right, i am done.

Up and at ‘em!

SlenderMansKnickers
Are you the old judgey snider comment making fucker I read about on here or is that another snidey judgey fucker?

Could well be. I'm old and quite capable of being judgey and a maker of snidey comments but not usually at the same time and there are probably more than one of us.

Too funny that my question brought out the froth enough to get my post deleted. It seems to have struck a nerve and I can't imagine why. Grin

JoyceDivision · 01/07/2019 12:16

I work mon to Fri and booked today off to clean kitchen... I have just finished so now sat enjoying a cup of tea and undercover boss before I head out to do some jobs.

A cup.of tea in a quiet,clean house. Bliss Grin

YouJustDoYou · 01/07/2019 12:24

I was about to say, just waiting for the judgy mc getajobs to come along, but I see it's already started :D It's sad how some people can't just accept someone else's happiness!

Got back, collapsed on sofa. So much needs doing, but only got 4 hours sleep again last night so might not be able to move for a while...Need crisps...

HairyFloppins · 01/07/2019 12:29

Mine are old enough to get themselves to school/college so I don't even need to leave the house somedays!!

Yabbers · 01/07/2019 13:15

But, but, but SAHMs are so busy all the time, it’s MUCH harder than having an outside job and they NEVER get time to themselves! 😄

Nice to see someone own that there are some perks to the job! Enjoy.

MissRhubarb · 01/07/2019 15:09

Like a lot of folk, I've done both full-time work with kids and had periods as a SAHM over the years. Used to love picking up a takeaway coffee and having that at my desk chatting to colleagues before work properly started, but also love my solo tea and toast at home when I've not been working and that little bit of calm. There are definitely different perks and downsides to both working and to being a SAHM.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 01/07/2019 15:12

Not a SAHM but usually have one day off in the week. Tomorrow I’ve outsourced the school run so I don’t even have to get dressed and I’m going to eat all the carbs and watch Captain marvel before taking the dogs out for a super long walk in the sunshine.

Sicario · 01/07/2019 15:20

So none of you are hiding cheese, cheddars and chocolate in the empty washing machine? No? Just me then

SlenderMansKnickers · 01/07/2019 15:48

Sicario

I used to have to do that. Lol.
I'd do the weekly shop, get myself some tasty treats as I worked so hard. Obviously didn't want them going into mouths of others so would put them in the one place no one but me ever went, the washing machine.
Top tip:
Stick a couple of towels or pillow cases up the door so no one can peek inside..

WalkAwaySugarbear · 01/07/2019 15:56

Mondays are my day off (in the week) so whilst I do catch up on my errands, I do indulge in a few lazy hours. If DH is home we enjoy having the house to ourselves Wink.

Fizzypoo · 01/07/2019 16:00

I'm not a sahm and both my DC are in secondary school. I work one 12hr day a week and a few evenings.

I love love love the 4 days in the week I get to myself! (When I'm off uni for summer)

Kids and DP are out the door by 8 most mornings. I do a 15min YouTube hiit, shower, sort tea out and tidy up. I'm finished by 10.30.

I then get to laze around and do whatever I want. Today I've spent the day on the sofa. Love it! I also like going out for lunch and reading books all day!
