To think that Kylie is bloody brilliant

Oh what I would do to look like that at 51!

And I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a big crown at Glastonbury (from the tv!)

Such universal appeal

Didn't enjoy Miley very much.

Mumsymumphy · 30/06/2019 21:32

Bloody love Kylie! Loved the set for the nostalgia rather than the vocals. I had her first album on vinyl. She's just fun and seems like a really nice, friendly person, there's never been any scandal about her in her 30+ year career.
And if I look like that at 51 I'd be well-chuffed!

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 21:44

If you want boring, watch The Cure - this is shite?

DrReed · 30/06/2019 21:44

Just watched it on iPlayer. That was baaaaad. I mean she looks good and had the crowd going but she really can’t sing at all. I don’t mind Kylie and have bopped along to many of her songs in my time but that was embarrassing.

Snugglepiggy · 30/06/2019 21:45

Tbh her nasally voice usually annoys me but I have to admire her energy, style, professionalism and work ethic. She is certainly a trouper. And that crowd was immense and looked to be having a great time.Plus she comes across as a genuinely nice ,grounded woman.

Sparklingbrook · 30/06/2019 21:50

I am not going to watch The Cure. Didn't like them back in the day.

Debenhamshandtowel · 30/06/2019 21:59

To the PP who asked if she’s nice... She did something very, kind and thoughtful many, years ago for someone I know.

I’ve a soft spot for her-right back to The Sullivans.

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 22:03

The Cure are totally shite - he literally hasn’t acknowledged the crowd yet .

He’s just reminiscing which will appeal to a certain age group but noone else.

I think she's bloody brilliant. I love her. Have done since I was about 9 or 10. Almost 30 years now.

Mascarponeandwine · 30/06/2019 22:53

Saw her live last Sunday at Blenheim. Her voice was fabulous!

mytittifersungtheirsong · 01/07/2019 07:51

Nothing bad to say about Kylie. Think she's great but as someone who was listening to it on Radio 2 I can only judge the performance by her voice and omg she sounded terrible. I appreciate it must be hard to sing live but I never realised how weak her voice was!

mytittifersungtheirsong · 01/07/2019 07:54

She can sing, she didn't hit one wrong note.

No, you’re right, she didn’t hit ‘one’ wrong note, it was the majority

NoSauce · 01/07/2019 08:49

Don’t be so touchy OP Grin you’re obviously a huge Kylie fan but it doesn’t take away the fact that she’s a terrible singer! Her voice is like nails on a blackboard.

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/07/2019 08:54

It was a great show and she is the ultimate showgirl. Vocally not the best. Miley Cyrus was amazing - her Back to Black was incredible

ssd · 01/07/2019 09:31

Her jumps was by Stella McCartney, I think someone asked upthread.

separatelives · 01/07/2019 10:12

If Kylie was a contestant on the X Factor, would she have got through the first round

Meangirls36 · 01/07/2019 10:13

I'm spinning around !! She's top soo amazing

BarbedBloom · 01/07/2019 10:15

I also heard it on the radio and she wasn't great vocally, but the crowd seemed to love her. I am not a Miley fan, but was blown away by how strong her voice was

species5618 · 01/07/2019 13:21

I preety certainI just heard on the radio that the gold dress cost £50,000.
Loved Miley, except the end which was a bit cheesy.

species5618 · 01/07/2019 13:22

That should read "I'm pretty certain".
I can speel, honest.

Baritriwsahys · 01/07/2019 13:28

There was a lot of mic problems, not just with Kylie. It's been running through the BBC coverage all weekend. She isn't the greatest vocalist but she isn't the worst either. She put on a fabulous show. Her duet with Nick Cave was almost as if someone else was on stage, it was so not Kylie, both vocally and emotionally. Fantastic stuff.

Baritriwsahys · 01/07/2019 13:29

Miley has a great voice. For singing. When she talks she just reduces herself to something she doesn't need to be.

FuriousCheekyFucker · 01/07/2019 13:37

She was terrible. Her voice was far too thin to be effective, she needed two backing singers to help her out on most of her songs, she fluffed the start of one of her songs, her moment where she could have got people to check for cancerous lumps passed her by (she never bloody mentioned why she couldn't perform in 2005 despite being all teary-eyed about it) but worst of all, her two duets (who anyone, any decent male singer would have been falling over themselves to do with her) she decided she could perform on her own.

I mean, how the hell can you do "Especially For You" as a solo artiste. Kids??? Really? No, the Kids are not alright with it.

She looks amazing for her age, and the choreography was great, it was a big crowd but that's due to the weather not the fact that she was brilliant.

I was disappointed, expected so much more. The BBC are hyping it as if it was the best live performance of the century.

It wasn't.

Gth1234 · 01/07/2019 13:48

I watched a couple of minutes on TV. The sound was terrible. I assume it was better there.

FuriousCheekyFucker · 01/07/2019 13:51

@Gth1234

I doubt it, open air concerts in fields aren't noted for their acoustic qualities. People go to them for the experience, they go to the Vienna Opera House for the acoustics. Grin
