Should I ask for a free replacement?

I recently used a new branch of Specsavers I hadn’t used before about a month ago. My local one didn’t have any suitable appointments and the other one did so I went there instead.

Had my eyes tested, but none of the other tests such as eye pressures/scans as I usually have in my usual branch, just a standard look in my eyes and reading letters to measure my prescription. They also tested my current glasses

Optician told me my prescription has not changed but because my lenses were now quite old and not in the best condition, I ordered new lenses for my frames. I did not think to compare my last prescription to my previous one as I thought that having tested my glasses she would know and match them up

Anyway long story short - something felt not right so I went and had the full Specsavers exam today in my usual branch including 3D scan and pressures. I have family history of eye problems and I just wanted to be reassured

2nd opinion of this optician is that the reason something is not right is that my lenses are way too strong for me, and directed me to buy new ones. This would be another £60 odd which I don’t have!

I have looked on Specsavers website refund policy but can’t make sense of whether my situation would qualify for a refund/replacement. Has this happened to anyone before?

Go straight back to the original opticians and tell them just that, and ask for a refund. The glasses they gave you are not fit for purpose. Have you told your usual branch what’s happened?

Meant to add, SpecSavers give you two weeks to change your mind or to raise any issues with the prescription, they should have told you that when you collected your specs. If you’re within that time frame you shouldn’t have an issue, if not, then I’d still raise not fit for purpose and send them your full exam results to show they were wrong. Good luck.

There is a specsavers facebook page, you can message the head office. Go back to the original specsavers and give them a chance to correct the prescription.
