To ask if there’s life after Movicol?

Sorry, posting here for traffic. DD (3) has Movicol for constipation. Told to up the dose to 3 sachets a day to clear it all out. The floodgates opened so to speak, all good.

However, after a few days now with no Movicol, she’s got really soft poo (basically the runs) and seems to have no control over it (she’s toilet trained).

To make matters worse this whole experience has given her a dreadful rash so we can only really clean her up in the shower.

I’m really fed up of dealing with so much poo, frankly.

Does it go back to normal? When?

The Dr said she should be on one sachet a day for three months but we’ve held off doing this as she just still has the runs from taking nothing.

Any thoughts?

Thank you so much, all, I really appreciate the support.

Mare, because we only went up to three sachets, I don’t know if we have done enough disimpaction. And I just don’t know if this is overflow or after effects of Movicol. She did three or four small runny poos around bedtime tonight. Kept having to get her up and shower her bum (which is too sore for wipes). Stayed away from pool and beach today to keep her bum dry and give it a chance to heal. Aggggghhh. It’s awful

I think I’ll ring the GP tomorrow though they’ll probably say there’s not much they can do without seeing her.

Keep her away from chlorine, but the salt water at the beach will aid healing.

Also, if she's been swimming, my DS2 was prone to swallowing loads of water when swimming, and always got a touch of diarrhoea from it when little. Could this be affecting your DD?

My dd was having the same issue on movicol, the consultant changed her to senakot and the soiling resolved itself very quickly. Feeling your pain op, it's very draining on everyone to deal with regular soiling. Wishing your dd better Flowers
