To send DS to nursery today

Posting for traffic.
Spotted a bump/spot on DS leg and face. Not red, don't appear to be itchy and he is normal in himself.
Is this chickenpox and should I send him to nursery?
Also, does anyone know about the chickenpox vaccine after infection please?

Can you upload a picture? It’s difficult to tell just from description. The fact there’s two far apart isn’t a great sign to be honest. I’d be very wary - has anyone else around him had the pox in the last month?

PatoPotato · 28/06/2019 08:50

I would try asking 111, they have nurses that will probably know what to do.

DoneLikeAKipper · 28/06/2019 08:50

My eldest wasn’t itchy/ill at all with his CP, so unfortunately that’s not a tell either.

YouKidsKeepMeYoung · 28/06/2019 08:57

I can't find the one on his leg now! He won't stay still for a face photo so I'm afraid not. They just look like bumps, no colour at all. About the size of a spot.

Bed bug bite? Knat nite? Chicken pox spots don’t just disappear that quick.

NerrSnerr · 28/06/2019 09:03

You don't need to call 111 for one spot. If it's chicken pox they'll know soon enough and call you to collect. It could just be a bite, a random spot or something.

You can't keep them off every time they have one spot. You just need to watch and wait.

NerrSnerr · 28/06/2019 09:03

(Or two spots....)

YouKidsKeepMeYoung · 28/06/2019 10:19

He's gone in, like you said @NerrSnerr, the nursery staff will call if necessary. He could have only got it from there anyway.
@snowy81, I couldn't find the spot on a wriggly toddler, that's all.
We definitely don't have bedbugs though Confused

111 because a toddler has one spot?

No wonder these services are so stretched!

JacquesHammer · 28/06/2019 10:46

You did the right thing, you can't keep him off for one spot.

I sent DD to school with what turned out to be shingles. Unfortunate but it happens!

Snowy81 · 28/06/2019 11:54

@YouKidsKeepMeYoung Just thinking’s Of things that could cause a red spot. Ale to mind as I overheard someone in the shop yesterday telling her friend she had one, and the dc had red spots on their legs.
Hope he’s ok, prob all just a little bite off something when outside, and they quickly go!

YouKidsKeepMeYoung · 28/06/2019 16:08

Ah, thank you Snowy. DS is back and seems fine.
@JacquesHammer, I didn't even know that children could get shingles!
