Plusnet allowing Porn

Just a heads up. Plusnet has a parent safe blocker, safesearch. Used it for the last three years works great.
It's not been working for the last six days but Plusnet can't be bothered to inform us. I only know as a pop up from an innocent site was clicked on and now my child has seen hardcore porn. They don't seem to care and are not going to let people know that their safe search is no longer working. They don't even seem to care that my child has seen porn.

You could try Tweeting them; public shaming often yields results.

Pornforall · 27/06/2019 21:26

Do you think people care?? If this was a mil shaming thread there would be loads of replies. Kids watching porn is just modern day life 😔

You have every right to be upset that your child has seen that, and that Plusnet didn't inform you about the technical issues, but there's no need for the exaggeration - they're not "allowing" porn, they're having issues with their safesearch. Even you said it usually works fine. Nor is kids watching porn modern day life.

IWouldPreferNotTo · 27/06/2019 21:38

My initial reaction was "well that's why I have internet access" but then I thought about it more.

What exactly are you doing to accidentally find porn? I spend around 12 hours a day on the computer and I only find porn when I'm deliberately viewing it.

Singlebutmarried · 27/06/2019 21:40

Do you not have any extra measures for your child’s devices.

Ours are locked down.

One internet provider.

Different access for each family member

You don’t get porn pop ups on innocent sites 🤔

Pornforall · 27/06/2019 21:42

I knew I'd get that. He clicked on a link about Gary Linneka getting sacked. It was a side advert to a regular site. The advert was about how Linneka was advertising a viagra substitute, from that a pop up came up. I followed this through on my phone and the same happened. I'd know not to click on links (and in fairness so should he) but I think providers should be doing there job. Why is it acceptable for kids to be blamed for viewing porn?

I’ve just checked mine and the safeguard is working. Could it have been deactivated somehow?

Pornforall · 27/06/2019 21:44

@singlebutmarried everything on lockdown. Plus net confirmed this would not be viewed as an adult site.

What kind of sites were they accessing to see hardcore porn images. I don't remember ever having had any kind of porn pop ups in all the years I've been online

To add my usual extra apps did not block it bit it is normally blocked.

But even if they were looking (and I dont believe they were as same link popped up) surly the companies we have paid to protect us should do as they say.
