To ask for help with a bloody vacuum?!

So went from the very loved but much too big for our small house Henry Hoover to the cordless Shark DuoClean vacuum. (loved the Henry but vacuuming the house with it was like an Olympic event with its weight and size and constant tumbling over and having to go back and pick it up and so on)

And God am I disappointed! Apart from fine dust this doesn't pick up anything unless you clean the whole thing out 3 times a day and even then it barely does anything! Hmm

We have 2 DCs, DDog and 2 of us in a small 2 bed terrace so stuff gets trodden into the house daily and often needs a good vacuum.
I wanted cordless to be able to whip around the place but I'm happy to settle for a not too heavy corded vacuum with a good powerful suction that works on hard floors and carpets.
I'm looking online but a bit dubious as the Shark I have now has over 1000 4+ star reviews on Amazon and I am Shock considering how awful I've found it despite having a replacement because I thought the original was faulty.
So I thought that I'd pop on here so the wise mumsnetters can point me in the right direction.

Budget under £200 preferably around the £100 mark but don't mind paying a bit extra for the right thing.

So can please someone save me from looking at my filthy carpets and chucking the Shark in the skip and recommend a good vacuum?

I raved about my Dyson v7 cordless and then it seemed to loose suction and I wasn't impressed with it when using the attachments.

I've now got a shark duo clean lift away true pet and I love it so much. The carpet lines from the strength make me so happy.

I've kept the v7 for little jobs and I only have a 2 bed house Grin

I feel the same about my shark corded vacuum.
I had a Dyson for 12 years, lovely vacuum, did what it said on the tin, but noticed pet hair wasn't getting picked up anymore. So upgraded to a shark.

It's a lovely vacuum and gets all the pet hair up, but I have to fiddle with it constantly. It's so sensitive to anything bigger than hair and dust. And sometimes pet hair is too much for it, and it clogs it up. I have to empty it and check all the tubes are clear constantly. Don't think I've ever finished more than a room or two without noticing it's blocked again!

I just bought a vax pick up pet. It’s suction is great. It’s also smaller than Henry and doesn’t break the bank at all. It isn’t perfect but suction wise it’s 10/10

I don't want something which has lots of bits that constantly need cleaning. I want a good not too big or heavy vacuum with good strong suction that can also pick up bigger things than bits of hair or dust.
Corded is absolutely fine.

Does one exist?
