Visitors wanting to stay too long

Those with young children what time do you ask visitors to come to see you? Is it rude to say please leave by 6.30 due to toddlers starting to wind down etc. This is not for a social drink invite etc but to visit a newborn or toddler / young child for example.

My sil used to stay for hours. In the end, I gave up being polite and got on with what I had to do...running a bath, prepping dinner etc.

We prefer to visit others as we can determine when it ends Grin We dont have visitors much but definitely not in the evening.

Depends on the person! If I want rid of them by a certain time I tell them I'll have to get rid of them by say 6:30pm for bedtime/tea whatever. If It's someone I want a natter with they hang around while I sort out bed etc.

I think it wouldn't occur to most people that "putting the kids to bed" means everybody has to leave!

Unless it's a playdate, but not with adults.
