...or are you selling them to DM?

OP posts:
StreamsFullOfStars · 26/06/2019 10:02

the question has been asked (and answered, in the negative) many times before

Was the question answered by Mumsnet? Because I recall one thread on Site Stuff where they did say they received a fee but that thread can no longer be opened.

I wish there was a faq stickied about this oft repeated nonsense

Me too.
Surprised there isn't already.
Maybe MN will add one.

Public comments will be reported if newsworthy

And the bar for ‘newsworthy’ is really, really low.

Images are different for various reasons. And it does depend on how they are used. You can reproduce and comment on other people’s publicly posted photos under fair use too.

Whether they receive a fee or don’t receive a fee the answer is not to post personal things here if you aren’t happy that other people will read them.

HandsUpHere · 26/06/2019 10:09

It's free advertising. Mumsnet are very happy for threads to be published and gain more members/revenue.

DogbertDogglesworth · 26/06/2019 10:10

Does it really matter? If you post in a public domain, you are still posting for the public to read whether its on MN, in the daily mail or the martian on mars monthly.
I doubt that the DM or any other publication is going to seek anyone out and demand a story, complete with a sad face picture just because you got drunk, fell in your neighbours hedge and pissed in their potted plant, then posted about it on here.

Crustaceans · 26/06/2019 10:12

MNHQ pretty overtly called you a liar in your other thread.

Ooh. I’m clearly on the wrong whinging about stuff that’s clearly in the T&C thread. 😂

MichaelMumsnet · 26/06/2019 10:22

Here's a link to that other thread if you don't want to miss out on any of the action.

But to repeat here...
It's absolutely not the case that we have ever received payment from the Mail or anyone else for thread-lifts. It's simply not true.

JemSynergy · 26/06/2019 10:23

Not just the Daily Mail, Loose Women and This Morning frequently use/discuss topics posted on here.

Crustaceans · 26/06/2019 10:28

Thanks @MichaelMumsnet. It’s interesting how inconsistent the OP is in her claims on the two threads. Anyone would think she hasn’t really thought any of this through. 😂

These kind of threads are annoying. Particularly as you have to leave them and keep engaging lest the OPs get all tinfoil hat.

The especially annoying thing is that MNHQ have been really clear the you don’t sell stuff to the press. Repeatedly.

But you bloody well could if you wanted to, since we all already agreed to it in registering and posting.

vampirethriller · 26/06/2019 10:33

Take a Break use threads from here on their Facebook page too and I've recognised things from aibu in the magazine problem page. (Don't judge me for reading take a break! Grin)

God op you've made yourself look a right ninny..... Still at least you'll have an easy story for your paper tomorrow.
