To wee in the shower?

First of all, I am not a pee troll, I promise. This is following on from a conversation I had earlier this evening.

Friend and I discussing what we’ve packed for Glastonbury, and I asked if she had bought herself a SheWee, as I’d suggested it a few weeks ago. She said she had but wasn’t sure if she was going to use it as she’d tried it a couple of times at home to practise and hardly anything came out. I said that had happened to me too and the best way to get used to it is by weeing in the shower as you use different muscles when you wee standing up.

She was horrified! Made all sorts of comments about it being gross and unhygienic, and said that if she needs to wee when she’s in the shower she gets out, dries off, goes to the loo and then gets back in the shower. I thought that was slightly bonkers as a) wee is sterile b) it all gets washed straight off you and down the drain anyway and c) you save time and water by not getting out, going to the loo and flushing. She brushes her teeth in the shower which I find far more bizarre!

I always thought weeing in the shower was a fairly common thing. Am I wrong?

Peeing in the shower is way less gross than pretty much anything at Glastonbury.

mikkyr · 26/06/2019 10:30

Honestly I thought weeing in the shower was fine until my step son moved in with us. My husband and I couldn’t work out why the bathroom STANK so much despite cleaning. Turns out the kid was weeing in the shower.

Weeing in the shower is NOT ok. It makes a stench. Damp plus wee equals gross.

LenoVentura · 26/06/2019 10:30

If she thinks weeing under running water that runs into the sewer is gross, is she going to be ok at Glastonbury?

This Grin
I pee AND brush my teeth in the shower #efficient #lazy

Pinkmouse6 · 26/06/2019 10:30

I’ve definitely done this and I’ve also done it in the bath just before getting out. No shame, it saves water Wink.

LenoVentura · 26/06/2019 10:31

Weeing in the shower is NOT ok. It makes a stench.

Not if you run the water properly. I reckon he was peeing in the shower without running enough water to flush it away - probably weeing just before he got out.

AngeloMysterioso · 26/06/2019 10:34

This EXACT conversation was had on one of the morning chat shows last week (can't remember which one - I saw it on YouTube).

The wording was more or less exactly the same from the person who thought it was gross.
Are you sure you actually had this conversation?

Pretty sure, unless I was hallucinating which is unlikely. I don’t watch morning chat shows so dunno what to tell you about that!

SleepingStandingUp I went to Leeds a few times as a younger woman... not a chance I’d go now!

I’m not even going to google “waffle stomping”...

@AngeloMysterioso I volunteer at festivals so it's a degree of luck of the draw. I def won't be anything but right at the back if I see any bands.

Weeing in the shower is NOT ok. It makes a stench. Damp plus wee equals gross either he has a serious infection of he's having a shower then peeing after the shower head is turned off. If your wee is being washed down with plenty of water, there's no more reason to think it'll smell than if you wash dirty and sweat down
I assume you allow dirty people in there to shower?

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 26/06/2019 11:10

Oh, I love my SheWee. However, the first time I used it I got it the wrong way round ..... and pissed all over my slippers Grin

Am an expert now though Smile

SleepingStandingUp · 26/06/2019 11:13

I should be about 17 weeks. U my next festival, 20 for Leeds. Do you think a shewee would be easier to use than a travel John at 3 am? Or easier than stopping over the portaloo? No long drop at Bloodstock

ChaircatMiaow · 26/06/2019 11:16

What’s a long drop? I’m almost afraid to ask..

MaybeitsMaybelline · 26/06/2019 11:18

Been discussed on MN as often as toilet brushes have.

anon812 · 26/06/2019 11:20

Agree anyone who goes to Glastonbury is crazy! Sooo expensive, basically paying north of 1k to go camping. I know the music is good but I never like all the acts and would rather pay to see 1 or 2 of them individually then go home and sleep in my own bed!! No SheWees involved.

ChaircatMiaow · 26/06/2019 11:22

And how rude of me, I didn’t answer the question YNBU. I also pee in the shower —and enjoy the naughtiness of it—

Abra1de · 26/06/2019 11:26

It makes me retch when I clean our guest shower any time after reading these threads. I really hope our guests don't do this.

AngeloMysterioso · 26/06/2019 11:42

SleepingStandingUp I’ve never used a travel John so can’t comment on that but the shewee is pretty easy once you get used to it and feels a lot cleaner than squatting and not always getting the right trajectory... I’m 23 weeks preggo so not sure I’ve got it in me to hover anyway!

ChaircatMiaow it’s essentially a huge pit in the ground with a box over the top.

anon812 who the hell do you know that’s spending over £1k?? I’m not even spending half that!

Abra1de I wouldn’t wee in anybody else’s shower. That’s just bad manners.

Veryveryouting · 26/06/2019 11:44

I do! I do wee in the shower!

happyhillock · 26/06/2019 11:48

I wee in the shower all the time

anon812 · 26/06/2019 11:55

Friends of mine who complain about the cost! Ridiculous amount of money! You couldn't pay me to go camping tbh!

TheInebriati · 26/06/2019 13:00

SIL accused my brother of weeing in the shower and it turned out to be the neighbours tomcat.

anon812 · 26/06/2019 13:26

LOL, I have also heard of cats doing this 😂😂

Damntheman · 26/06/2019 13:42

Grin My cat hovers outside the shower cabinet waiting for me to get so he can go in and lick all over the floor of it. It's so gross.. I've taken to shutting him out of the bathroom completely. Is he trying to get a taste of me in case I die and he decides to eat my corpse??

SleepingStandingUp · 26/06/2019 14:03

@ChaircatMiaow row of cubicles toilets, so doors etc. But below the seat it just drops into a communal box. It's a long drop to the poo hence the name, so thry don't tend to smell as bad as portaloos etc.

UnaCorda · 26/06/2019 16:37

Alright @KevinKeegansPerm who pissed in your cornflakes?

Surely the relevant question is, who pissed in your shower?

UnaCorda · 26/06/2019 16:38

Sorry, bold fuck-up.

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 26/06/2019 16:50

Do you never clean your guest toilet?
