Hello all...I was wondering if anyone has or currently is working as a TV extra? I am interested in finding out how much it pays, what it entails and how could I find work? Thank you in advance ❤️

Find your local talent agency. The pay is pennies. It is hard to get regular work in it. Unless you're in an area in Yorkshire or the Northwest where most soaps and dramas are filmed, you likely wouldn't get any work at all.

I did it for years, so did my siblings. Not anything you could make a career out of. And all you do is sit on your arse all day and repeat the same scenes for hooooours.

Boring as fuck.

Find the local agency used by ITV/BBC/ C4/ companies making programmes for them. Pay is usually set by equity rates. As PP said, hard to get regular work if it is your main job. But good to supplement other casual income.

DH has been an extra a few times in connection to his work (extra in military related films) he gets around £250 for three days work when he does it.

It's a lot of standing around, waiting and being bored I'm afraid from what he tells me. Normally free food though.

I second contacting an agency.

I’m a Performing Arts teacher and I would recommend you get an actors equity card if you want to do it as your only source of income. Usually extras are paid £80 per full day on set. It really depends on where you live and if any big shows are filmed near you. I would tell you to find an agency who can help you find jobs, there are quite a few companies that do this what one is best for you to contact would depend on where you live as some only cover certain areas.
It can be a lot of sitting about and waiting, it’s not like acting a part with lines.
I wouldn’t recommend someone trying it as their only source of income, as you can get lots of jobs for a while and then nothing for ages, it’s not reliable work.
