AIBU to think air beds are a waste of money?

Looking at the reviews because our old one deflates slowly overnight, every brand has 5-20% giving 1* reviews because they deflate overnight. AIBU to think they're just a big con?

This one literally changed my life: www.argos.co.uk/product/7594162

It silently automatically keeps itself inflated all night when plugged into the mains - and you can choose soft/medium/hard like a mattress - my mum sat on it for half an hour and didn’t realise it was a blow-up!

We were between houses (rental had ended, were waiting for our chain to complete on purchased property) and couldn’t get our proper bed up the stairs in our gap-house of 3 months - soooo good to finally sleep on a blow-up bed where I don’t wake up on the floor in the morning!!!!

(It’s now our “spare room” bed for if we have guests and everyone loves it!)

I bought a really cheap one for occasional use and it has been great. Really comfortable, never gone down.

InvisibleLlamaBurningCamel · 25/06/2019 18:17

We have two Aerobeds - one normal bed height, and one "ground" level - neither has ever gone down

Bought a cheapo one from Sports Direct. Maybe £6? I think?

It's been used a dozen times now and I think it stays inflated overnight. I know I'd never pay big money for one though. Too many bad reviews as you say. What's the point?

Wifeynomore · 25/06/2019 19:40

YANBU - got a right posh one from John Lewis - had to swap it twice for another, but they all deflated. Wouldn't get another.

Must be hit and miss, and I appear t have been lucky. Have both a single and double from the cheapest end of the spectrum (home bargain I think) and both have never let me down. They only get used for one night at a time though but have never deflated.
DD also has a roll mat which she prefers to take on sleepovers as no faff with inflating. She’s 14 and nearly 6ft and says it’s really comfy.

Sorry, yes that would be a waste. I meant that the cheap Tesco ones are quite good and we haven't had problems with leakage.

NotSorry · 25/06/2019 20:37

We've got 2 aerobeds, never had a problem with either

clairedelalune · 25/06/2019 20:45

Not read through thread but electric ones are ace!

Bubblysqueak · 25/06/2019 20:50

Love my airbed. It's as tall as a standard double bed and has never gone down in the 3 years we have had it .

BringMeTea · 25/06/2019 20:57

Get an Aldi camp bed! 23 quid very well spent. In stores now. So impressed after crappy (expensive) air beds.
