To want DS to quit Beavers so I don't have to do anymore sewing?

Obviously IABU but I just spent the best part of an hour sewing on three badges and two of them are wonky. Plus I managed to stab myself with a needle twice. I hate sewing. Always have. Why can't they give out stickers instead? Much better for my poor fingers.

I've mainly caught up on a decade of my own camp blanket and it's my mission to get all the camp blankets on from a major camp before it rolls around again.... that's for me and two DCs!

I also need to get the Beaver badges off the retired jumper and onto the blanket.

YABU. There are kids his age sewing clothes in Malaysia etc there’s no reason he can’t learn to sew safely with the right supervision.

Fabric glue has saved my life fingers!

My daughter is in brownies, but dyspraxic and doesn't have the fine motor skills to sew.
The brownies sashes are so thick, and so are the badges. I was moaning to another parent about it, when she mentioned fabric glue and I've not looked back since!!

My DS has just started Beavers. Can I ask why badges are being moved from jumpers to camp blankets? And is there a specific position on the jumper for each badge?

Could you sew them on like buttons - repeated x in the middle then wrap the thread around a few times?

Hello @H20H20E, Cub leader and Beaver/Scout mum here - moving bags to camp blankets is not compulsory, but a lot of people do it to record their passage through scouting. Some badges move from Beaver to Cub to Scout uniforms though. I use glue for the blanket, as this is the badges' final resting place.
