Arthritis in fingers?

bbcessex · 24/06/2019 09:26

morning all
Sorry - posting here for traffic.

I think i am starting to get arthritis in my fingers - well - one finger, middle finger of left hand, to be precise.

Been painful for a few weeks - no break or anything - painful on clenching and throbbing / shooting pains on occasion. Knuckle seems to have a bit of a side bump on it. All points to arthritis.

I will eventually go to the doctor but DD has numerous chronic illnesses so am dealing that at the moment and this is minor in comparison. Can quite happily manage, just don't want to miss the chance to slow progression down if that's possible.

Just wanted to ask: does anyone have an tips to stop things getting worse or do I need to get proper medical intervention to limit future problems?

thanks all

Black pepper corns. I take a teaspoon in the morning and wash down with water. Don't crunch.

This was recommended to me and it works. I was told its anti inflamatry and also helps other medications absorb into the blood stream. Making them more effective. Its helped everyone I have recommened it to.

Wow - thanks Shebertherbert - didn't know about that at all.

Will give that a try, thanks.

I had/have the exact same thing. I was 98 per cent sure it was arthritis, but went to the GP anyway just in case it was broken as the pain was that bad on some days.

The GP prescribed some medication for it (forget the name; some sort of anti inflammatory I think), but it varied between making no difference whatsoever on some days, to making it feel worse on others. I ended up stopping the medicine and just take normal over the counter painkillers on days when it's unbearably bad.

Other fingers on both hands and parts of my right hand are affected now too, although not as badly. Yet.

thanks for info, Fargo. I guess I probably will have to go to the GP at some point, just can't make it a priority right now.

Hope you get some improvement x

I've got arthritis in one finger after trapping it in a drawer. I eventually went to Dr as it was still painful after 6 months and I was worried I had broken it. He told me to use massage on it and gave me some exercises to do which have made a huge difference

Thanks Mrs. Peacock - i will google the right exercises..

I have arthritis in my hands one of the exercises I do is to use a squash ball and squeeze it in my hands, very good for anyone who uses s computer or keyboard. I do get some pain but not enough to need painkillers.

The main problem is a loss of grip by my finger tips.

Thanks BellaBasset, I'll give the squashy balls a go x

Go to gp they can do. Blood test which can identify markers for rheumatoid arthritis. You need to rule that out.
