Just out of interest.
When I was little (7-10), I'd play outside around the neighbourhood with no adults and not a mobile between my friends and I. We'd go home when we were hungry.

Playing chicken on the train track

Making a den in the hayloft and bringing candles

Madness!

At around 15/16 out late (don’t think drink was involved at all or anything else) lying on empty roads and looking at stars. Never on own in group. Seemed empowering to be lying down quietly in usually busy places. Waterloo bridge and the strand were good for it. Now it would be impossible with roads never truly empty enough. How filthy also eh ?

I've just remembered going round the nearby housing estate knocking on doors and asking complete strangers to sponsor me for a walk we were doing at primary school! I don't remember going back to collect the money, but I must have done...

How times have changed.

When I was 9 or 10, I plugged an electrical flex into a wall socket, bared the wires, and applied them to the bottom of a light bulb I was holding in my other hand. It worked! The bulb lit up.
My parents were watching TV in the same room. They didn't even notice.
