To think MN should be available to those in hospital?

Just spent a week in a (private) hospital in the UK, and was relying on MN to help me through the long painful nights... but despite the Free WiFi and no problems with any other stuff I looked at, MN was just not available... no information to say site blocked or whatever. Just not loading, index page looking weird, and not able to click through to anything. Tried phone and tablet. Is it because of the moving ads? Puzzled and disappointed!

I've never had this problem, in several hospitals (private and NHS).

VivienneHolt · 23/06/2019 09:07

I don’t think that’s a problem with hospitals generally.

Hope you’re ok the mend Flowers

CherryPavlova · 23/06/2019 09:07

It would usually be available in most hospitals. It’s probably a site issue.

DonkeyHohtay · 23/06/2019 09:07

I was on mumsnet in a private hospital after having a hysterectomy and it was a lifesaver. Is it even possible to block access to certain sites in that way?

MarinetteDupainCheng · 23/06/2019 14:03

I’m currently on MN from within an (NHS) hospital, no problems (lunch break - staff not patient).

I think the issue is with your particular hospital rather than MN or hospitals in general 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sirzy · 23/06/2019 14:07

Not a problem I have ever had while at various hospitals.

Hope your on the mend now

PregnantSea · 23/06/2019 14:25

I've used it during hosptial stays. I think Mumsnet really struggles if the connection isn't good - maybe the hospital wifi was shit? Seems the most likely explanation.

DrVonPatak · 23/06/2019 15:06

In the hospital right now, no problems whatsoever. NHS one.

FannyWork · 23/06/2019 15:17

I suspect your issue may have been trying to access via a WiFi network someone banned has previously used.

B3s1detheR1ver · 23/06/2019 15:42

I've traveled to lots of places, I've had no problem accessing mn

honeygirlz · 23/06/2019 15:56

Clearly just an error at that particular hospital, there’s no reason why MN would he blocked.

Floralnomad · 23/06/2019 15:58

I’ve used it in a few different hospitals both private and nhs .

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 23/06/2019 15:59

Mumsnet.com is one of the barred websites in my local college.

honeygirlz · 23/06/2019 16:00

Probably too many students reading it rather than studying Grin

Maybe the language?

I bet NetMums is allowed.
