Would you sleep with a celebrity because of their fame?

I got very excited the other day when I matched on Tinder with a celebrity who I’ve fancied for years (or his doppelgänger at least!) I told my friends last night and one of them said ‘I bet you wouldn’t look twice if he wasn’t famous’.

She’s wrong, as he’s totally my physical type and I would go for him regardless. However, I will admit to swiping right for another celebrity on there once who I absolutely don’t fancy - I just wanted to see if he’d fancy me (he didn’t !) Taking it further, a friend of mine used to model years back and had two celebrity hook-ups she now regrets - an actor and a singer. She admits if they’d been Joe Bloggs working on the bins they wouldn’t have stood a chance.

So would you do the deed just because they were famous - and because you could?

If you are saying would I sleep with someone because he's a celebrity in circumstances where otherwise I would not, the answer is very obviously no. His being a celebrity could never outweigh whatever it is that makes him undesirable to me.

I’m very well aware that people have one night stands. Maybe it’s because my life has not been sheltered and I’ve seen the damage inconsequential sex, increased hedonism and the erosion of personal responsibility has created that I become increasingly convinced that casual sex is a bad thing for both parties and for the wider society.

^ This. Obviously famous people are often physically attractive, but the idea of being involved in any way with the very public lifestyle of a famous person ... no way! And I would hate to be famous myself. I genuinely do not understand the obsession with celebrity.

Definitely wouldn't have fancied him if he wasn't (semi) famous. The attraction was a bit like when you sort of fancy your boss even though objectively you can see they're not good looking but the power makes them fanciable?

I've also 'done bits' with someone just because my friends fancied him. Which in hindsight is ridiculous but he was almost like a celebrity in my local area (nightclub manager)- again I think power made him attractive.

I definitely think that someone’s fame can give you the fanny-gallops when otherwise you wouldn’t look twice at them. I go a bit jittery in the presence of celebs, so yes I can totally see myself doing this. Unless they were completely unattractive like Paul Daniels or someone!

When I was a member of a club in my younger years, we all fancied the Chairman, and then it became rather apparent once he stepped down that his attractiveness was entirely linked to him holding such a senior position! There’s something quite sexy about a bit of power/charisma (unfortunately - see BoJo etc).

Possibly not, but he’s not so famous that you’d think ‘No way would he use a dating site’. You wouldn’t expect Beckham or Brad Pitt, but I’ve seen Toby Anstis, James Redmond and Dean Gaffney on there.

But if I fancy them, whilst beinh quite drawn to personality and charm then answer always yes.

My long standing celeb crushes being Ethan Hawkes, James McAvoy, Joshua Jackson, Christian Slater and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Just something about them that is a "Hell yes!".

I mean, if Jared Leto turned up, I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating toast. But I wouldn’t have sex with any of those men you mentioned even if it were really them because they were famous. Why would you?

It seems there are some women who’d have sex with a man just because he’s famous, even with Dean Gaffney, so probably quite a few men..

In my younger days I met quite a few celebs and some tried it on/chatted me up or whatever and I didn’t as I didn’t fancy any of them. If I fancied them etc then I would. The fame would contribute to ‘knowing’ something about them I guess but it wouldn’t be because they were famous.

If I was single I would (and have). He wasn't someone who would have caught my eye before but the fame thing made it a bit more exciting. It was fun (the most fun thing was def not the sex but that he got asked for an autograph when we were out for dinner. I just sat there trying to look cool ). Life's short and it was a fun experience to have had.
