AIBU to not want husband to use Purple Brick to sell our house?

So I don’t really know why, but I feel worried about selling our house using Purple Bricks instead of a regular agent. You have to pay if you don’t sell £800 odd and I’m worried we won’t sell and will end up losing our money and having to sell with a normal agent anyway. AIBU? Has anyone got really good things to say about them? Cheers.

@SAHD2020 I've just checked, it's Advanced Conveyancing Services. Maybe they've changed, I'll have to research

SAHD2020 · 22/06/2019 19:38

@Usuallyinthemiddle....maybe they were the suspicious type. Lol

If you both own the house don't you both have to sign the contract. Don't agree to use PB then. We used Hunters, agent was fabulous, did all the viewings, and charged us a fixed fee.

I've noticed a few times in our areas that houses with PB sale signs seem to hang around unsold for quite a long time only to be sold quite quickly when the owners give up on them and go to other estate agents.

SAHD2020 · 22/06/2019 19:42

@applepineapple.....they may well have changed. We brought our current house in 2016 and the sellers used ezzi we sold and move on Wednesday next week.....it was our PB agent who said not to use them but as I said we have a perculiar chain so that's probably why.

I think as long as you keep ontop of them they will be fine. Just ask for weekly updates and don't be afraid to call or email them.

As a recent buyer, online agencies were awful and it was do difficult to view the houses we just gave up

I would be put off viewing a house for sake with purple bricks. They’ve been unreliable- late for viewings, cancelling them last minute etc.

They also seem to overprice everything in my area - they’re a franchise so some areas may be better than others. Houses on with Purple Bricks in my area languish on the market for ages.
